Mental Health Intensive Care Unit (MHICU), Eastern Suburbs Mental Health Service, located on the Prince of Wales Hospital campus, Randwick.

The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality nursing care to patients/clients of the Eastern Suburbs MentalHealth Service consistent with SESLHD and Eastern Suburbs Mental Health Service policies, procedures andstandards.

The vision for nursing in the Eastern Suburbs Mental Health Service is to provide meaning and purpose toplan for the future; have reference to an inspirational statement that is consistent with the purpose and values ofnursing; and to inspire nurses to provide the highest quality healthcare to patients in any circumstance.

Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur ifno suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing.

All workers and new recruits are required to receive 2 doses of a Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine to commence employment/ engagement or continue to work within a NSW Health service.

A worker and new recruit will be considered compliant if they have a medical contraindication to all available Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccines and provide medical contraindication evidence in line with the policy requirements.

In addition, all Category A workers and new recruits are required to receive one dose of the seasonal influenza vaccine annually to be considered compliant.

Category A workers and new recruits who are non-compliant with seasonal influenza vaccination or have a medical contraindication to influenza or COVID-19 vaccinations must comply with all other infection control risk reduction strategies as directed while working in a Category A position.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Tertiary qualifications in Nursing and current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia.
  2. Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others.
  3. Demonstrated ability to proactively engage with patients/clients to enhance service delivery and to guide others in providing service excellence.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and apply professional and ethical boundaries when dealing with complex situations.
  5. Basic computer skills and proven ability to use health information systems.
  6. Demonstrated understanding of recovery principles and commitment to the philosophy and practice of consumer, family and carer participation and consumer focused care.
  7. Demonstrated experience and ability to deliver high quality patient care in Mental Health at a post graduate level
  8. Proven experience in the provision of care and assessment and management of risk within the mental health environment.
