Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners for the above positions in the Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD). The positions will be located at Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals within the Department of Radiology, and successful applicants will be rostered equally to work at both sites during the week.
Successful Applicants will be fully qualified Radiologists. However, applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship within 6 months may be considered. If successful, the applicant may not be subsequently eligible to commence their appointment until after the relevant qualifications and requirements are formally completed. Duties cover Blacktown Hospital and Mount Druitt Hospital equally. Successful candidates will be required to work a minimum of 0.6FTE and will be part of an on-call roster. MRI, CT, US, general reporting and interventional Radiology Tier A skills are essential.
Successful applicants will work as part of a well-established team, with peer support, and opportunities for personal and professional development. The position will provide successful applicants opportunities to undertake a variety of roles in addition to diagnostic radiology, such as clinical supervision, consultation, teaching and research.
Successful applicants will provide admitting, consultative, procedural, outpatient and on-call services within the specialty as determined and required by the District.
Successful applicants may be offered a conjoint university appointment within the Faculty of Medicine at the relevant University attached to each facility. The level of academic appointment will be commensurate with the qualifications, experience and scholarship and will be held only during the tenure of the Western Sydney Local Health District appointment. No remuneration is attached to the University appointment. The appointee will be responsible to the University for academic matters and to the District for clinical matters.
Conditions of appointment are in accordance with the Staff Specialists (State) Award.
Selection Criteria
· Possess or be eligible for AHPRA registration, Medical Board of Australia, and Fellowship of the RANZCR or equivalent as provided for in the Staff Specialists (State) Award. Must have Australian Citizenship or Permanent Australian Residency. Must hold a current NSW Environment Protection Authority license.
· Sound clinical knowledge in Radiology and experience in MRI, CT, US, general reporting and Interventional Radiology Tiar A skills are essential and demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position.
· Demonstrated skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner including:
o High level interpersonal and communication skills.
o Demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team.
o Experience and involvement in quality assurance activities and evidence- based best practice.
o Demonstrated commitment to teaching and supervision.
· Familiarity with research concepts and commitment to support basic, applied or clinical research within the Department.
· Provide reliable and responsive on-call services (when privileged to do so). Attendance when requested is to be within thirty minutes of call, or otherwise within a timeframe consistent with the needs of the specialty as determined and approved by the facility.
· Provide supervision to Radiology Registrars.
· Participate in teaching Registrars and Medical Radiation Practitioners.
· Provide weekly in-services to clinical services staff as requested by management.
