Te whiwhinga mahi| The Opportunity

Starship Community has been transformed to provide responsive community-based nursing care to infants, children, young people and families within the Auckland area. The Starship Community nursing team work in an integrated way across a number of areas of community nursing, including acute care, Well Child|Tamariki Ora, nursing in schools, school-based immunisation for Year 7 and 8 students as well as Rheumatic Fever prevention. Our service principles enable us to prioritise care for Māori, Pacific, Migrant and Refugee-background families.

We are seeking a senior registered nurse with strong leadership and advanced nursing skills in paediatrics. This Starship Community Nurse Educator is responsible for promoting, facilitating and providing clinical education to maximise healthcare delivery, enhance patient outcomes and promote clinical excellence and evidence-based professional nursing practice.

In this role you will facilitate new and experienced staff to receive the appropriate clinical support for orientation and ongoing professional development to enable the provision of safe patient care within the service. It is important that you can work autonomously, prioritise workload and work as part of a supportive senior nursing team committed to effective/evidenced based nursing practice.

  • Haveat least5 yearsnursing experience, preferably including community
  • Interact effectively with a multi-disciplinary team and service members
  • Maintain safe cultural practice and develop your cultural knowledge
  • Have excellent supervisory, communication and problem-solving skills are essential in order to relate to and work with staff and patients at all levels.
  • Experience supporting nurses learning through teaching /preceptoring
  • A personal commitment to ongoing learning and development
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Have NZ Nursing registration with a current Annual Practicing Certificate

Ideally, you will hold or would be working towards a Post-Graduate Certificate or Diploma in specialty nursing practice.
