Clinical Nurse Consultant/Specialist

Where you'll be working
Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) is responsible for providing primary and secondary health care for people living in the Auburn, Blacktown, and The Hills Shire, Holroyd and Parramatta Local Government Areas (LGAs) and tertiary care to residents of the Greater Western Region. What you'll be doing
Providing an expert consultancy service within the Western Renal Service in matters relating to clinical care of clients / patients who are potentially likely to be treated with or are on Peritoneal Dialysis
1. Responsible for the daily co-ordination and management of the Peritoneal Dialysis program, including pre-dialysis assessment, patient education and training, outpatient follow up and home visits.
2. Develop and maintain effective communication channels with all relevant personnel by attending meetings, clinics and liaising with physicians.
3. Maintain up to date Peritoneal Dialysis training manuals and relevant educational material
4. Identify and address issues which may interfere with successful initiation onto long term dialysis therapy.
5. Participate in a regular on call roster for this patient group.

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualification: Post Graduate qualifications in Renal Nursing or equivalent
  • Registration: Registration in line with Award requirements: Registered Nurse List A

Selection Criteria:

  1. License: Valid unrestricted NSW Drivers' License
  2. Minimum of five (5) years full time equivalent post registration experience, with at least three (3) years current full time equivalent experience in Renal and Dialysis nursing.
  3. Post graduate qualifications relevant to the speciality.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a collaborative team environment.
  5. Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement and improved health care outcomes, with appropriate computer and research skills.
  6. Proven excellent interpersonal, communication and teaching skills.
  7. Ability to provide education and counselling for patients and families potentially requiring renal replacement therapy.
