What you'll be doing
Cooma Maternity service is seeking a highly motivated enthusiastic midwife/midwives, to work in a Maternity Antenatal Post Natal continuity of care service [MAPS] providing care in collaboration with the GP Obstetrician. This is an exciting new role within Cooma Maternity Service providing a 7-day community cover with the ability to facilitate postnatal home visits on weekends as required.

The successful applicant will work in partnership with the woman and her family offering an initial booking in visit and additional antenatal visits in collaboration with the GP Obstetrician to plan comprehensive holistic woman centred pregnancy care as well as post natal follow up in the home.

Collaborate with management, individual/s and multidisciplinary team members to ensure women with complex needs are provided the care, support and referral required.

Utilise effective communication and organisational skills to ensure the planning and provision of comprehensive focused quality care and follow up for women accessing the service.

Be willing to assist the core midwifery team within the unit with support in times of high inpatient activity/acuity.

Selection Criteria

  1. Current Registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Midwife.
  2. Demonstrated competencies in and knowledge of the complexities and challenges involved in caring for women and babies in context of a multidisciplinary team.
  3. Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology, written and verbal means and sound interpersonal skills with the capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner.
  4. Demonstrated application of evidence based practice and critical thinking to advocate for and implement individualised woman-centred care with a commitment to quality improvement.
  5. Demonstrated ability to supervise, delegate, and negotiate with others to deliver quality midwifery care with a willingness to show leadership and embrace change in the coordination and delivery of care.
  6. Recent clinical experience relevant to the position including evidence of participation in own professional development and commitment to maintaining competence and enhancement of skills.
  7. Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritise and organise workload and deliver care with integrity and accountability.
  8. Current unrestricted drivers' licence and the ability to maintain. Ability and willingness to drive as the role requires.

This is a Category ‘A’ position, please read and understand NSW Health policy directive PD2023_022.All new employees must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy. OASV requirements also include proof of vaccination against influenza and is compulsory for NSW Staff that enter any Residential Aged Care Facility (RACF) or who work in NSW Health owned and operated RACFs.


All NSW Health Category A workers are required to have received at least two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine. You will be required to provide a record of your COVID-19 vaccination status if successful.
