Occupational Therapist / Rehabilitation Coordinator


About the role:
There’s an exciting leadership opportunity within Manning Mental Health Service. As a Rehabilitation Coordinator, your role will focus on providing leadership, consultancy, and direct service provision to consumers across the Lower Mid-North Coast, specifically related to clinical rehabilitation. With a patient-centred focus, you’ll work with consumers and their families to achieve their functional goals and improve their quality of life. Our successful candidate will be supported by a district wide model of care and Rehabilitation Stream, together with your local management team and Head of Discipline, Occupational Therapy. The senior component of this role is a great opportunity to develop your leadership and management skills, advocating for Occupational therapy and the Wider Allied Health team within the LMNC Health service. While this position is full-time, part-time or job-share arrangements may also be considered.

About the service:
An exciting opportunity exists to join NSW Health’s largest Mental Health service. HNELHD Mental Health Services delivers mental health care across the Hunter New England Health district which covers metropolitan, regional and rural areas of NSW. With over 1700 mental health staff members who deliver comprehensive and specialist mental health services we are committed to serving mental health consumers, carers and their families, to lived experience and co-design, and to providing culturally diverse, safe and inclusive care.

The Manning Community Mental Health Team provides mental health services to Bulahdelah, Gloucester, Forster and Taree, located on the Lower Mid North Coast. The focus of these services is to provide timely and effective care and to empower consumers to become resilient, independent and to self-manage their illness and recovery. Our services covers all age groups including child and adolescent, adult and older people. HNELHD Mental Health Services are committed to their staff and provide orientation, training and education, professional development, clinical and profession supervision, and run an active research and evaluation program.

Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme :

This vacancy is eligible for an Attraction and Relocation package that includes the following*:

  • Attraction incentive paid as a Rural and Regional fortnightly allowance of up to $10,000for the first 12-months
  • Retention incentive of up to $5,000 thereafter annually
  • PLUS 3 months accommodation assistance (e.g. reimbursement of rent payments or payments for commercial accommodation)

*All payments and reimbursements made to part time employees will be on a pro-rata basis.

Attraction incentives will be paid as a Rural and Regional fortnightly allowance on top of your base salary + 11% superannuation.

Other forms of payment/package options (where you are eligible) need to be negotiated with the Convenor and may include**:   

  • Additional annual professional development days (up to 5 more per year)
  • Additional personal leave (up to 5 more per year)
  • Computer/internet reimbursement (e.g. laptop, wi-fi costs)
  • Return airfare to and from your work base (or equivalent motor vehicle allowance) so you can still visit family and friends

**The total value of your incentive package would remain the same. Employees are responsible for seeking independent financial advice before accepting an Attraction and Retention Incentive package as part of their offer.  

Transferring of incentive packages will depend on the location, position, and time served by the health worker in their current position. Eligibility to transfer existing incentive packages will be determined and approved by the health organisation. Health workers who are receiving incentive packages and are changing or moving positions should discuss the impacts with their manager or local Workforce Rural Health Incentive Team via [email protected] to discuss your eligibility prior to applying if you are already receiving an incentive package.

Requirements:

  • Must hold a qualification in Nursing, Psychology, Social Work or Occupational Therapy which provideseligibility for membership of the relevant professional association and/or provisional or general registration through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as relevant.
  • Eligibility to drive in NSW.
