An exciting opportunity exists for the Clinical Nurse to work with the Geriatric Emergency Department Intervention (GEDI) team, within the Department of Emergency (ED), both at Nambour General Hospital and Sunshine Coast University Hospital campuses.

An exciting opportunity exists for the Clinical Nurse to work with the Geriatric Emergency Department Intervention (GEDI) team, within the Department of Emergency (ED), both at Nambour General Hospital and Sunshine Coast University Hospital campuses. 

The GEDI team is located within the Emergency Department and operates collaboratively with treating teams, community-based services, hospital inpatient teams and Allied Health services.

The GEDI team provides specialist geriatric input during the care journey for frail, older community dwelling patients and will ensure optimal patient outcomes through providing holistic assessment, patient and family advocacy and including discharge and referral processes. A key responsibility of this position will be to assist with hospital avoidance by reducing length of stay, decreasing the risk of representation, and supporting Emergency Length of Stay (ELOS) targets.

Key Responsibilities include: 

  • Adhere to defined service quality standards, health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being understood to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
  • Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with Schedule 2, Nurses and Midwives (Queensland Health Award) – State 2015 – Generic Level Statements Nurse Grade 6, Band 1 and the Queensland Public Service values.
  • Understand your broad responsibilities for safety and quality in healthcare, actively participate in continuous quality and safety improvement activities within the workplace and notify a relevant clinical or non-clinical responsible officer when concerns exist about workplace or patient safety.
  • Practice in accordance with code of ethics, professional standards and legislation affecting nursing practice by maintaining current knowledge and competence within scope of position.

Remuneration value up to $131,900 p.a., comprising salary between $107,960 - $115,604 p.a. (F/T), or salary rates: $54.44 - $58.30 p.h. (P/T), employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (Nurse Grade 6 (1)) (full time or part time position available, hours negotiable).
