Midwifery Group Practice (MGP) - Permanent Part time/ Full-time Positions

Monash Women’s Program has ongoing positions available within the MGP program, providing the opportunity for midwives to practice to their full scope within the Maternity team at Casey Hospital.

About Casey Maternity Service

  • Expanding services to Casey Hospital has led to our ability to care for women with varying levels of complexity, as we now have critical care services on site to support their journey
  • Casey Hospital services the Casey and Cardinia catchment areas, the most rapidly growing area in the state. Our birth numbers are growing in line with the population growth in this area
  • Casey Hospital runs an offsite pregnancy clinic in a state of the art community clinic at Pakenham
  • Casey Hospital provides services specific to younger women and vulnerable women through our young women’s and ADAPT clinics
  • Casey Hospital operates a Pregnancy Assessment Unit servicing women from 16 weeks gestation through to 28 days post birth.
  • Casey Hospital has two large bathrooms designed to accommodate water immersion in labour and birth.

About the Role

The MGP midwife works within a collaborative multidisciplinary team. Underpinning the success of our program is midwifery and medical staff supporting continuity of care and women’s choices throughout pregnancy and birth. Midwifery continuity of care has been demonstrated to increase satisfaction and outstanding outcomes for mothers and babies.

  • Work across your full scope of midwifery practice, providing care to the woman and her family across the full continuum of pregnancy and birth in an all risk model
  • Homebirth Opportunities

We have ongoing full and part time and fixed term part time for 12 months (no less than 0.8) opportunities working within a 24/7 rotational roster.

What you bring

You are a Registered Midwife with a positive attitude who is passionate and dedicated to woman centred care. You are innovative, flexible and demonstrate attention to detail with a particular focus on safety. You work alongside women to support them through their pregnancy and birthing experience, giving women choices that are informed and underpinned by evidenced based practice within the Monash Women’s program.

In addition, you have proven experience working in an Acute Maternity service and have demonstrated skills and knowledge across the entire continuum of pregnancy care including antenatal, birth suite, postnatal and extended postnatal care.You are driven and look forward to growing your career with the support of amazing mentors and educators within our highly skilled broader Maternity team.

What you need:

  • Current AHPRA registration
  • Demonstrated maternity experience across the continuum of pregnancy care including antenatal clinics and midwifery home care.
  • Level 3 FSEP
  • Demonstrate competence in IV cannulation, perineal suturing, fetal scalp electrode application, amniotomy, speculum examination, cervical ripening balloon insertion, and neonatal discharge examination.
