About the Opportunity
The Hepatitis C Testing Coordinator will work within Drug Health's Blood Borne Virus Program to coordinate hepatitis C testing services.

The role suits someone looking to work in a team that engages with people with a history of injecting drug use who may be living with hepatitis C in Drug Health and community settings across SWSLHD.

What You'll be Doing
The primary purpose of this position is to provide a range of harm reduction interventions for clients of the program, including the provision of new injecting equipment; health education; brief interventions and referral into treatment.

The Harm Reduction Program protects the community from the spread of blood borne viruses such as HIV and Hepatitis C principally through the distribution of sterile injecting equipment to intravenous drug users and provision of information, advice referral services.

Health promotion, overdose prevention and safe disposal programs are also provided through this program to service users and to health, welfare and community agencies.

  1. Relevant health qualifications deemed by the employer and/or demonstrated experience in working with injecting drug users within a range of harm reduction settings.
  2. Knowledge of the harm reduction approach to drug and alcohol issues and demonstrated experience in the provision of interventions with drug dependent clients.
  3. Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as within a multidisciplinary team.
  4. Demonstrated high level of communication including verbal, written and project management skills.
  5. Ability to plan and implement health promotional activities.
  6. Demonstrated knowledge of, and ability to implement quality improvement processes.
  7. Demonstrated ability to provide brief interventions to clients with drug use issues.
  8. Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
