Changes to labour market testing requirements

The Commonwealth Government is developing a National Nursing Workforce Strategy which aims to address workforce challenges and support the nursing profession in Australia. In late 2023 they consulted with many nurses and providers to identify issues facing the nursing workforce. The Australian College of Nursing published its response, providing recommendations to improve nursing conditions, workforce retention, and service delivery in Aged Care and rural and remote health.

The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners will open applications for the 2025 Australian General Practice Training (AGPT) Program between 4 March – 15 April 2024. This media release from The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) explores the government’s new incentives to boost advanced health services in regional communities. The RACGP welcomed the inclusion of a broad range of disciples and services that could be delivered by GPs to communities outside the cities. Payments were available to eligible GPs and rural generalists under the Workforce Incentives Program, and the initiatives help to alleviate workforce shortages.
