Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

We have an opportunity for an experienced perioperative nurse to further their career, focusing on education, training and development within a passionate perioperative educator team. Āhua Tohu Pōkangia / Perioperative Services Directorate are looking for a perioperative nurse educator, to work across the directorate and provide support to the team at Adult and Emergency Operating Rooms.

You will have responsibility for professional development of nursing staff and health care assistants in the perioperative area, including teaching on and supporting the 12-week Pokakapu Ātea - New to Operating Rooms (NTOR) programme, as well as contributing to hospital wide development and leadership of nursing and patient focused initiatives. Additionally, your wider responsibilities will include training to other disciplines.

This is aPermanent - part time role working 0.5 FTE, Monday to Sunday.

While the role provides support to all perioperative areas, your focus will be supporting the team at Adult and Emergency Operating Rooms. We are looking for a Registered Nurse a with a passion for education who is already on a post graduate pathway.

Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills


You will be an expert/senior nurse with relevant clinical experience and have a Postgraduate Certificate/Diploma or Masters in specialty nursing practice. You will also have a sound knowledge of clinical teaching/learning methods and well-developed communication and critical thinking skills.

it would be advantageous if you had;

- Current Level 3 or 4 practice or equivalent on the PDRP pathway

- Knowledge of quality improvement processes and principles

- Knowledge of nursing professional development issues
