There are multiple Vacancies in the Toowoomba and Highfields areas within the Darling Downs South West Region (DDSWR) for Psychologists and Social Workers, available for both full-time and part-time positions. As part of a special initiative, those in these roles will receive a one-time payment of $20,000 upon working within a Queensland state school located in areas of high demand to support the Education Department's Student Wellbeing Package.

This incentive is applicable to new hires joining the Department of Education between March 28, 2024, and June 7, 2024.

About the Department of Education:

As part of the Queensland Government's $106.7 million Student Wellbeing Package, we are increasing the number of wellbeing professionals working in state schools and education regions across Queensland. By June 2024, employment of additional wellbeing professionals through this initiative will ensure every Queensland state school student has access to support for their wellbeing at school.

About the Role:

To provide quality school-based mental health care to students, their support networks and the broader school community. As a Wellbeing Workforce Psychologists or Social Worker, you will work within the school environment by supporting the school team, under the supervision and leadership of regional office-based clinical supervisors.

We are seeking to fill the following roles, with appointment being based on your relevant experience and qualification.

  • HP3 Psychologist ($84086 - $116332)
  • HP4 Senior Psychologist ($124436 - $133901)
  • PO2 - PO3 Social Worker ($73593 - $106663)
  • PO4 Senior Social Worker ($113324 - $121876)

As a specialist member of a multi-disciplinary team, you will offer therapeutic support to students with mild-to-moderate mental health concerns.

Responsibilities common across all three disciplines include:

  • Assess the mental health needs of students to inform appropriate therapeutic interventions.
  • Work collaboratively with schools' leadership and student support teams to inform student support planning, and provide advice to teachers supporting students' mental health in the classroom.

  • Certified copies of tertiary qualifications in Psychology and academic transcripts from all study;
  • Evidence of registration (provisional or general) with AHPRA;
  • ID - passport (and visa conditions if applicable); and
  • Current resume; and
