SESLHD covers urban and suburban communities and manages eight public hospitals and one public nursing home:

What you'll be doing
- The Fellow will be assigned to Medical Oncology Department at St George/Sutherland hospitals for the specified term of 12 months. The position is based at St George with attendance at Sutherland hospital as required. The main role is to perform a specified research project under the supervision of the Director of Medical Oncology or delegated Medical Oncologist. The position will focus on gastrointestinal cancer and peritoneal disease
- Additional responsibilities are to provide clinical care to medical oncology outpatients under the supervision of Attending Medical Officers (AMOs) for 2-3 clinic per week and support the provision of inpatient care as required. The Fellow will work as part of a multidisciplinary team and support the supervision of Advanced Trainees, Junior Medical Officers (JMOs) and medical students as required. The Fellow will also participate in clinical meetings and teaching and be subject to training and performance reviews.
- MBBS or equivalent, current general registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Must have completed the core component of advanced training and eligible for elective year in Medical Oncology or have completed the requirements for Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians as a Medical Oncologist.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a project (e.g. research, quality assurance) and demonstrated ability in basic research skills, literature review, critical thinking, data collection, data analysis and reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilisiing excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertise.
- Demonstrated organisational skills, good time management skills and capacity for self-directed learning.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills and capacity to work within a multi-disciplinary team
- Commitment to core values of hospital based medical practice: patient care, teaching, research and quality improvement.
- Understanding that training commitment entails potential secondment to community, regional and or rural hospital
