What you'll be doing
The Medical Oncology Advanced Trainee will be in an accredited Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) training program within the Medical Oncology Department rotating across St George and Sutherland Hospital and also as part of the boarder network including Prince of Wales Hospital and Wollongong Hospital. The position is a two year contract as part of core medical oncology advanced training. The main role is to provide clinical care to medical oncology inpatients and outpatients under the supervision of Attending Medical Officers (AMOs).
The Advanced Trainee will work as part of a multidisciplinary team and supervise junior medical officers (JMOs) and medical students. It is also expected that the Advanced Trainee participates in the clinical meetings and teaching and be subject to training and performance reviews.
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Completion of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians written and clinical examinations and the requirements of PREP Basic Training or equivalent (completed or working towards).
- Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgement and expertise.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Commitment to core values of hospital based medical practice: patient care, teaching, research and quality improvement.
- Understanding that training commitment entails potential secondment to community, regional and/or rural hospital.
