What You'll be doing
Provide clinical management and treatment of patients in a SWSLHD facility under your care. This care will be provided within the clinical privileges granted by the CE on the advice of the SWSLHD Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee.As one of the Staff Specialists in this Unit, you will primarily take part in the clinical duties of the TACS unit and cover Trauma and ASU (Acute Surgical Unit) as well as participate in the General Surgery on call after hours roster.Coordination and management of the acute resuscitation and treatment of multiple injured patients, emergency general surgery patients and coordination of acute care between multiple services and disciplines is a major focus of the role.You will also be expected to assist the department in the running of Trauma, General Surgery, and Acute Surgery clinics as well as participate in unit elective and emergency surgical operating lists.

Liverpool Hospital, founded in 1813, is the major health service for south-western Sydney, offering a wide range of state-wide services including critical care and trauma, neonatal intensive care, and brain injury rehabilitation. As a key teaching facility for UNSW Sydney and Western Sydney University, it provides extensive clinical services, including emergency care, cancer treatment, paediatrics, and mental health services. The hospital features 23 operating theatres and has a capacity for 877 beds.

1. Current medical practitioner, registered, or eligible for registration, with the Medical Board of Australiaand Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons
2. Demonstrated current clinical practice of a high standard and ability to adapt clinical practice inaccordance with contemporary evidence based best practice. Endoscopy skills preferred.
3. Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management
4. Demonstrated participation in teaching and training at undergraduate and/or post graduate level,including supervision of junior medical staff
5. Demonstrated commitment to continuing self-education and development, including evidence ofparticipation in continuing medical education/ continuing professional development
6. Demonstrated ability to comply with the service objectives of a public health organisation, including theprovision of services to the local community, effective utilisation of resources, and preparedness toparticipate in the provision of health services at an LHD level
7. Demonstrated experience in Trauma and Emergency General Surgery and preparedness to participate ina hospital, service or LHD on-call roster
8. Evidence of ability to work cooperatively with other staff and practitioners and in a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
