The Obstetrics & Gynaecology Department at Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH) provides junior doctors with a comprehensive and rewarding experience in the care of women throughout pregnancy, childbirth and the postnatal period.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, trainees are actively involved in the assessment and management of antenatal and postnatal patients, labour ward care, emergency presentations and complex obstetric cases. Under the supervision of experienced Obstetricians, Advanced Trainees, Unaccredited Trainees, SRMO, RMO and Midwives, doctors develop skills in clinical decision-making, patient-centred care and the management of both routine and high-risk pregnancies.
As a major tertiary referral hospital, RNSH offers exposure to a diverse patient population and a broad range of obstetric presentations, including maternal medicine, multiple pregnancies, fetal complications and obstetric emergencies. The term provides valuable hands-on experience in maternity care while fostering strong communication and teamwork skills within a collaborative clinical environment.

What you'll be doing
The primary purpose of the position is to provide quality obstetric and gynaecological care to patients in a complex clinical environment whilst developing higher professional maturity and professionalism during the RANZCOG Advanced Training Program, with the goal of obtaining FRANZCOG. Provisional Fellows will, under an appropriate level of supervision by senior staff as approved by the RANZCOG, evaluate, diagnose, treat and provide consultation to female patients of all ages presenting in any condition or stage of pregnancy or the puerperium; and female patients presenting with illnesses, injuries and disorders of the gynaecological or genitourinary system.

- Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, including providing leadership and direction to ensure appropriate management of patients
- Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertise
- Demonstrated time management and problem solving skills
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and computer skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management
- Evidence of continuing professional development and commitment to self education.
- Previous experience in and willingness to deliver undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and training.
Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specific Diseases
To be employed by NSW Health, applicants must provide evidence of vaccination and comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination Against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy Directive (PD2024_015). Compliance with this policy, including any amendments made from time to time, is a mandatory condition of employment.
Applicants will be required to provide acceptable evidence of their vaccination status, immunity, and any other occupational health requirements relevant to the position. Evidence must be submitted and assessed in accordance with NSW Health requirements prior to commencement.
Working with Children Check
This position requires a Working With Children Check (WWCC) clearance issued by Service NSW. A current and valid WWCC is a mandatory requirement for appointment to this role.
