We are expanding our Support Worker network in Katoomba and the wider Blue Mountains, NSW, and are looking for compassionate, reliable and inclusive people who want to support others to live with greater independence, confidence and choice.

You don't need to be the right person for every participant. Our approach is based on finding the right participant-Support Worker match according to skills, experience, personality, availability, location and individual preferences.
Key ResponsibilitiesDepending on the participant's individual support plan and needs, your responsibilities may include:
- Providing person-centred disability support in the home and community.
- Supporting participants with community access and social participation.
- Assisting people to develop confidence, independence and practical life skills.
- Providing companionship and meaningful social connection.
- Supporting participants to attend appointments, activities and community events.
- Assisting with household tasks, meal preparation and daily living activities where required.
- Providing respectful support to people experiencing mental health challenges.
- Using calm, trauma-informed and recovery-oriented approaches where appropriate.
- Supporting children and young people with age-appropriate activities where relevant.
- Adapting communication and support strategies to each participant's needs.
- Building respectful and trusting relationships with participants and their support networks.
- Respecting each person's identity, choices, boundaries, routines and preferences.
- Maintaining accurate shift notes and required documentation.
- Communicating professionally with participants, families, Support Coordinators and the Chosen Family team.
- Providing reliable and consistent support and communicating promptly about availability or changes.
