DBT Therapist | Bring Your Specialist Skills to a Supportive, Evidence-Based Mental Health Service

Join SALHN Mental Health Services as a Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) Therapist and play an important role in supporting consumers to improve their wellbeing, build resilience and develop greater capacity for self-management.

About the role:

Reporting to the team manager, you will provide individual therapy, group work and phone coaching, while supporting the DBT Coordinator in delivering high-quality, consumer-focused care.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Provide proficient, person centred, clinical nursing/midwifery care and/or individual case management to patients/clients in a defined clinical area.
  • Undertaking a clinical case load and providing individual care coordination to consumers with complex and specialised needs utilising discipline-specific expertise.
  • Undertaking assessments, risk assessments and interventions to increase a consumer’s functional capacity.
  • Evaluating the progress made with each consumer, and when appropriate, facilitating transfer of care in a timely manner.

About you:

  • Competence in evidence-based DBT interventions
  • Advanced skills in undertaking a comprehensive bio-psychosocial assessment including risk assessments
  • High level of competence in designing and implementing evidence-based psychological interventions
  • Ability to be creative, innovative and flexible when approaching issues within the clinical setting.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience in collaborative development, implementation and monitoring of planned interventions for consumers with complex needs.
