The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) will support implementation and evaluation of the HIRAID® Inpatient Nursing Framework. The intent of HIRAID® Inpatient is to optimise nursing care, particularly assessment, management and escalation of patient care. HIRAID® (History, including Infection risk, Red flags, Assessment, Interventions, Diagnostics, plan, communicate, reassess) improved nursing care and patient safety in the ED, and the co-design approach will ensure the HIRAID® Inpatient elements and its operationalisation in clinical practice will meet the needs of nurses working in acute hospital inpatient context.

Role Specific Benefits.

The HIRAID® Inpatient CNC is responsible for delivering and monitoring of the project across ISLHD under the guidance of Dr. Baylie Trostian and Prof. Kate Curtis. They will be the clinical liaison, working closely with ward CNCs and CNEs to evaluate HIRAID® and collect data from patients, clinicians and medical records. The HIRAID® Inpatient CNC in consultation with the inpatient ward CNEs will provide support and drive the HIRAID® education where required. Training and support will be provided by researchers at The University of Sydney and Dr. Baylie Trostian. The role requires an experienced nurse, with attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated excellence in education and training, an understanding of data collection and knowledge of the ISLHD clinical and administrative systems. To ensure that HIRAID® Inpatient is fit-for-purpose, a comprehensive understanding of acute hospital inpatient nursing practice is needed.

- Registered Nurse/ Midwife Division 1 with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and a minimum of 5 years’ full time equivalent post registration experience, and postgraduate qualification relevant to the specialty or working towards same and/or extensive experience.

- Applicable vaccination requirements for a Category A role.

- Valid unrestricted drivers’ licence for use in NSW/Australia and willingness to travel in the course of employment.
