Please note this is for the 2027 Fellow Ophthalmic Surgery (Uveitis, Medical Retina and General Ophthalmology) intake commencing 1st February 2027.

This is a Recruitment Pool for Fixed Term appointments for 6-12 months with the possibility of extension(s).

Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments may be made when similar vacancies occur. Appointments may be made from this pool until 15/12/2026.

Salary: MP Year 1-2 $228,222 to $238,666 p.a. (inclusive of base salary, 12% superannuation and professional development allowance)

Position Profile:

Responsible for undertaking general ophthalmological care of inpatients and outpatients, with particular emphasis on uveitis and medical retina disease The uveitis fellow will see and treat an extensive range of presentations under the supervision of preceptors in the department. Fellows are expected to supervise trainees and junior doctors and contribute to teaching. Fellows have dedicated research time and are expected to prepare papers for presentation at scientific meetings and for publication. Opportunity may be available to observe or assist consultants with surgery or treatment outside RPH, and for outreach to remote areas of Western Australia.

The range of experience provided includes but is not limited to:

  • Emergency, elective and particular emphasis on those with uveitis complications
  • Inflammatory eye diseases
  • Ocular trauma
  • Ocular oncology
  • Ocular genetics

Responsible for supervising ophthalmology trainees, including formal and informal teaching
