Urgent vacancy for a Senior Medical Officer / Rural Generalist to provide GP and Emergency Department coverage at a Western QLD Health Service from 15 November to 22 November 2026.
Shift details:
15 November 2026: 08:00 - On-Call
16 November 2026: 08:00 - 17:00
17 November 2026: 08:00 - 17:00
18 November 2026: 08:00 - 17:00
19 November 2026: 08:00 - 17:00
20 November 2026: 08:00 - 17:00
21 November 2026: 08:00 - On-Call
22 November 2026: 08:00 - On-Call
Additional Rate: GP + AST: $2,970 per day.
Regional Community Health Centre: Monday to Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, with a one-hour lunch break.
Inpatient Ward Rounds: Morning ward rounds at Western QLD Health Service, commencing at 8:00 am.
On-Call Duties: After-hours and weekend on-call responsibilities for Western QLD Health Service.
Practice Support: Best Practice software, dedicated practice administrator and nurse support.
Travel: Flights from Brisbane to St George (Rex Airlines, Wed/Sun) or Moree, with airport transfers arranged.
Accommodation: Fully furnished, self-contained, non-shared unit provided.
Vehicle: Fleet car available for after-hours and weekend use.

- Located on the Barwon River and border of QLD and NSW, this rural town has approximately 487 residents. It is a popular fishing site.
- This 15 bed facility provides hospital, community and allied health services, home and community support for the town people and surrounding area
- Services available are: accident and emergency, outpatients, pharmacy, respite care, long term residential, acute inpatient care, minor operations, Indigenous health care, palliative care, chemotherapy and radiology.
