Welcome to the Wollongong Hospital Paediatric Ward. This is a place where compassion meets laughter, where clinical excellence goes hand in hand with creativity, and where caring for children sometimes means wearing a pirate hat, fairy wings, Christmas earrings or a superhero cape- all before morning tea.

Let's be honest.

You can't work with children and be boring.

Our ward embraces every opportunity to bring joy to our patients and families. Throughout the year you'll find us celebrating:

• Party Week, where staff dress to a different theme each day and transform ordinary shifts into extraordinary memories for our patients.

• Paediatric Nursing Week, recognising the incredible work of paediatric nurses and celebrating our profession.

• Jeans for Genes Day, supporting an important cause while showing our team spirit.

• Halloween, complete with costumes, decorations and plenty of smiles.

• Christmas celebrations, when the ward becomes a festive wonderland.

• Special events and awareness days throughout the year, because every reason to bring a smile to a child's face is worth celebrating.

Our ward is colourful, creative and full of life because we understand that a costume, a decorated ward or a shared laugh can make a frightening hospital experience a little easier for a child and their family.

Every fairy tale needs heroes.

If you're looking for a ward where you'll be challenged, supported, celebrated and occasionally asked to wear a costume for the sake of making a child smile, then we'd love to meet you.
