Remuneration: $81,748.16 - $114,771.98 per annum
Hours Per Week: 38 (Job share considered for part time hours)

Join the dedicated K9B Colorectal, Upper Gastrointestinal (UGI) and Acute Surgical Unit team at Westmead Hospital, one of NSW's largest tertiary referral hospitals. This dynamic and fast-paced surgical ward cares for patients across a broad range of complex colorectal, upper gastrointestinal and acute surgical specialties, providing nurses with varied clinical experiences and opportunities to further develop their expertise.

What you'll be doing
As a Registered Nurse, you will provide safe, evidence-based and person-centred care to patients throughout their surgical journey. You will work collaboratively with patients, families and multidisciplinary teams to deliver outstanding clinical outcomes while supporting the delivery of efficient and effective healthcare services.

  • Deliver high-quality, patient-centred nursing care that meets the individual needs of patients and their families.

  • Assess, monitor and respond to changing patient conditions, ensuring timely and appropriate clinical interventions.

  • Coordinate patient care and facilitate referrals to support safe discharge planning and continuity of care.

  • Supervise, support and mentor nursing staff and students, contributing to a positive learning environment.

  • Advocate for patients while effectively managing resources and maintaining professional, ethical and culturally safe practice.

  • Registration: Current Registration as a Registered Nurse with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)

Selection Criteria

  1. Demonstrated recent nursing experience relevant to the position and commitment to quality improvement, practice development and evidence-based practice

  2. Demonstrated application of evidence based practice and critical thinking to patient care

  3. Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise, delegate, and negotiate with others to deliver quality nursing care

  4. Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology, written and verbal means,; and sound interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate with a diverse range of people.
