Northern Beaches Hospital is seeking an outstanding nursing leader to join our Perioperative Services team as the Nurse Unit Manager Level 2 - Scrub/Scout, a permanent full-time opportunity for an experienced perioperative clinician who is passionate about delivering exceptional patient care, driving operational excellence and fostering high-performing teams within a dynamic surgical environment.

Where you'll be working
Northern Beaches Hospital features 486 beds, 50-bed Emergency Department, 20-bed general and cardiothoracic ICU, a state-of-the-art theatre complex, world-class education centre, and excellent staff facilities including café and secure on site car parking. Northern Beaches Hospital has a wide range of services that can help you build a career in healthcare.
The Interventional Suite accommodates adult & paediatrics patients for planned & unplanned procedures &/or surgery. It comprises of 14 state of the art operating theatres including a Hybrid theatre; 2 Cardiac Catheter Labs, 4 procedure rooms, 41 bed recovery unit, Anaesthetics Service and state of the art Sterilising Services Department. The service currently operates 7 days, 06:00 to 21:00hrs.
What you'll be doing
As Nurse Unit Manager Level 2 - Scrub/Scout, you will provide clinical, professional and operational leadership to the Scrub/Scout team within Perioperative Services. You will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe, high quality, patient-centred care while supporting the efficient operation of the Operating Suite.
Reporting to the Nurse Manager, Perioperative Services, you will be responsible for:
· Leading and supporting the Scrub/Scout nursing team.
· Ensuring the delivery of safe, evidence-based perioperative care.
· Managing staffing resources and day-to-day operational requirements.
· Supporting efficient theatre utilisation and patient flow.
· Fostering a positive workplace culture centred on collaboration, accountability and professional development.
· Leading quality improvement initiatives and maintaining accreditation standards.
· Working collaboratively with surgeons, anaesthetists and multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient outcomes.
· Supporting staff education, mentoring and workforce development.
People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background encouraged to apply.
Candidates will need to meet the following criteria
- Registered Nurse-Division 1 with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA) AND Relevant management tertiary qualification OR equivalent work experience, OR a combination of study and work experience; and demonstrated commitment to professional development.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, manage and support a clinical team.
- Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication skills and computer literacy in Microsoft Applications, roster management systems and electronic medical records.
- Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience in change management and initiating a new service delivery model within an established service.
- Evidence of and commitment to patient/customer focussed care, clinical governance and quality improvement.
