Are you passionate about Critical Care? Join the incredible Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team at Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH)! There are temporary and permanent positions available.
Our ICU is configured into four specialty pods, offering care across a wide range of complex clinical areas including complex cardiac care, neurosurgery, burns, acute spinal cord injuries, haematology and complex general surgery. Royal North Shore is an ECMO service and an accredited trauma centre. The integration of these specialised pods within one unit is a distinctive feature not commonly found in other ICUs across Australia. This model enables nurses to not only deepen their expertise within a chosen specialty but also explore and develop skills across different clinical areas. You will have opportunities to work across all specialties with the ongoing guidance and support of our clinical nurse specialists, clinical nurse consultants, nurse practitioners and educators.
Joining the RNS ICU nursing team places you within a complex and dynamic environment that is deeply grounded in continual learning and professional development. Our multidisciplinary team is committed to fostering a strong culture of collaboration and support, enabling clinicians to grow into highly skilled and compassionate practitioners. To ensure the highest standard of care for our patients, all ICU nurses are supported to progress toward Postgraduate studies in Critical Care Nursing, further strengthening both individual capability and the expertise of our unit. Staff undertaking postgraduate studies are eligible for a range of scholarships and education support.
People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.
Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
  1. Registered Nurse - Division 1 with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  2. Recent experience in a critical care unit.
  3. Current clinical knowledge and clinical problem solving ability.
  4. A commitment to excellence in nursing practice and continuing professional development.
  5. Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
