About the role
- The primary role is to perform, analyse and report oesophageal physiology tests: oesophageal high-resolution manometry, 24-hour pH studies and Endoflip.
- Be part of a specialist service – work alongside gastroenterologists and a multidisciplinary team within the Centre for Swallowing & Oesophageal Disorders, Department of Gastroenterology, St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney.
- Learn, contribute and grow – support the Centre’s large clinical research program, with opportunity to be supervised to obtain a higher degree by research (e.g. PhD).
- Technical skills and quality control – operate specialised equipment, troubleshoot technical issues with hardware, maintain high laboratory standards, infection control.
- Keep quality at the forefront – ensure accurate test results, strong quality assurance, and safe, patient-focused practice.
About you
- Human Physiology expertise – BSc or equivalent qualification with a strong foundation in Human Physiology.
- This is a patient-facing role, so you should be an excellent verbal communicator and enjoy interacting with and reassuring patients.
- You should be comfortable that the role involves performing invasive procedures as part of clinical measurement (insertion of manometry and pH catheters transnasally), training will be provided.
- Technical skills and ability to troubleshoot are helpful.

Alfred Health and Monash Health have established a formal partnership to deliver a Shared Pathology Service as one of three new pathology networks for metropolitan Melbourne. All roles in the Pathology Programs are working to develop the Partnership and ensure we continue to provide high quality care for the patients across the health services. Monash Health Pathology is an integral part of Monash Health. It is the largest public provider of Pathology services in the state and currently operates 6 laboratories. The largest of these is located at the Monash Medical Centre, Clayton, with additional laboratories located at the Dandenong, Moorabbin, Casey, Victorian Heart Hospital and Wonthaggi Hospitals. Now Recruiting a Laboratory Assistant/ Clerical Position - Full Time/ Part Time Positions
As a Laboratory Assistant/Clerical Worker, you will be responsible for specimen preparation under supervision, data entry into the laboratory information system, and the maintenance of the laboratory's cleanliness and functionality. You will deliver printed reports, respond to phone calls, and assist with general data management and billing procedures. You will be part of a 24-hour roster that rotates to other Monash locations as needed. It is essential you have flexibility in your working hours to be able to work across a range of sites. Health and Safety are essential requirements of the position in order to protect yourself and others. All personnel are required to wear approved safety glasses in conjunction with other personal protective equipment (provided by Monash Health).

Now Recruiting - Victorian Cancer Biobank: Monash Heath Node Coordinator (1-Year Fixed-Term, 1.0 EFT)
Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Tissue Bank, including the supervision of the collection, processing, storage, retrieval, preparation and distribution of human biological specimens submitted to the Tissue Bank. The role will involve managing employees and liaising with physicians, surgeons, pathologists, ward and theatre nursing staff, medical laboratory scientists, biobank staff across the consortium, and researchers. The successful applicant will be required to travel to affiliated sites, including other institutions, as needed. The incumbent will also be responsible for obtaining and maintaining ethical approval for the establishment and ongoing operation of Tissue Bank procurement sites.
About You
Qualifications/ registrations/ licences:

Tertiary qualification in health, medical science or a paramedical discipline

Recognised relevant experience in Biobanking processes
Technical skills/ knowledge/ experience:

Knowledge of clinical histology processes, histological morphologies, and medical/oncology terminology, with relevant laboratory experience in a clinical or research setting.

Sound understanding of Tissue Bank operations, including laboratory practices, relational databases, and coding systems such as ICD-10.
-
Demonstrated high-level organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines accurately and efficiently.
-
Knowledge of applicable federal, state, hospital and regulatory requirements, including privacy principles and regulations relating to tissue banks and databanks.

Highly computer literate, with advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams.

Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients/participants and multidisciplinary medical and scientific teams.

About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for a Grade 1 Scientist to join the Cardiothoracic and Surgical Oncology Research team at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne. In this role, you will support and coordinate clinical research activities across Cardiothoracic and Surgical Oncology, with opportunities to contribute to research across Breast, Plastics and Urology. Working closely with investigators, clinicians, research staff, patients, sponsors and regulatory bodies, you will support the delivery of clinical trials from patient screening and recruitment through to ongoing trial participation, data collection and study documentation. You will ensure research activities are conducted in accordance with approved study protocols, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), ethical and regulatory requirements, while maintaining high standards of patient safety, confidentiality and data integrity. Your Responsibilities
You will:
Support the coordination and day-to-day conduct of clinical trials across Cardiothoracic and Surgical Oncology
Assist with patient screening, recruitment, informed consent and ongoing trial participation
Maintain accurate and timely patient, trial, laboratory and regulatory documentation
Coordinate the collection, processing and management of research specimens and study data
Prepare and manage ethics and governance submissions, amendments and associated documentation
Liaise with patients, investigators, sponsors, Human Research Ethics Committees (HREC), Governance and other internal and external stakeholders
Support safety reporting and ensure trial activities comply with approved protocols, GCP and relevant ethical and regulatory requirements
Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure the integrity and quality of clinical research data
Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to support safe, high-quality clinical research

A relevant tertiary qualification in Science, Health Science or a related discipline
An interest in, or experience within, clinical research or clinical trials
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to maintain accurate documentation and manage competing priorities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with patients, clinicians, researchers and external stakeholders
An understanding of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and clinical research governance requirements, or a willingness to develop this knowledge
A current National Criminal History Check, or willingness to obtain one

About the Cardiothoracic and Surgical Oncology Research Team
The Cardiothoracic and Surgical Oncology Research team supports the delivery of clinical research across a range of surgical specialties, including Cardiothoracic and Surgical Oncology, with research activities also extending across Breast, Plastics and Urology. Working collaboratively with doctors, nurses, researchers and other members of the multidisciplinary team, the department supports the safe and effective conduct of clinical trials in accordance with Good Clinical Practice and relevant ethical and regulatory standards. Through high-quality clinical research, the team contributes to advancing knowledge, improving treatment and supporting best-practice patient care.
