The Role
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced research professional to join the Clinical Research Unit as Research Manager, Cancer Surgery. This leadership role is responsible for providing strategic and operational oversight of the Surgical Oncology and Anaesthetics (incorporating Perioperative Medicine and Pain Medicine) research portfolios, supporting the delivery of high-quality clinical, translational and investigator-initiated research programs.

You will have high level management skills in leadership and stakeholder engagement, with demonstrated leadership experience managing research staff and multidisciplinary teams.

Position Summary The Research Manager - Cancer Surgery is a senior member of the Clinical Research Unit (CRU), responsible for providing strategic and operational oversight of the Cancer Surgery (Surgery and Anaesthetics, Perioperative Medicine & Pain Medicine) research portfolio. Working in close partnership with Cancer Surgery leadership, Principal Investigators, CRU leadership and key institutional support services, the role enables the delivery of high-quality clinical, translational and investigator-initiated research.
As a member of the CRU Leadership team, the Research Manager contributes to the development, implementation and continuous improvement of clinical research operations, governance frameworks, workforce capability and research quality across Peter Mac. The role shares responsibility for advancing the CRU's strategic priorities and operational effectiveness while providing portfolio leadership for Cancer Surgery research activities.
Within Cancer Surgery, the Research Manager provides operational leadership to ensure research activities are appropriately resourced, compliant and aligned with departmental and organisational priorities. The role supports the growth, sustainability and success of the Cancer Surgery research program, fostering a collaborative and integrated approach to research delivery and promoting excellence in clinical research outcomes.

About the Role:This full-time, Fixed Term position within the Cardiology Department at The Royal Children's Hospital provides parental leave cover. There may also be opportunities for ongoing employment beyond the initial fixed-term period.
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Cardiac Physiologist who is passionate about delivering exceptional patient care and contributing to the ongoing advancement of a world-leading paediatric Cardiology service. The successful applicant will play an integral role in our clinical program, share their expertise with colleagues, and contribute positively to the department's collaborative and supportive culture.
In addition to your primary clinical responsibilities, you may be involved in the supervision and mentoring of junior staff, Cardiac Physiologists, and trainees, depending on your experience and expertise. For applicants with experience in adult echocardiography who are looking to expand their skill set, comprehensive training in paediatric echocardiography will be provided by our highly skilled team of paediatric Cardiac Physiologists.
Depending on qualifications, skills, and experience, classification for this role will range from BB1 (Grade 2, Year 1) to BC4 (Grade 3, Year 4), $90,235.60-$118,981.20 per annum, plus superannuation.
Key Responsibilities:Working within our busy paediatric Echocardiography Laboratory, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Performing comprehensive, high-quality paediatric cardiac ultrasound examinations
- Producing detailed and accurate preliminary reports to support clinical decision-making
- Assisting with and/or performing advanced cardiac imaging procedures, including:
- 3D echocardiography
- Transoesophageal echocardiography (TOE)
- Contrast echocardiography
- Strain and strain-rate imaging
- Providing practical training and support to Cardiac Physiologists new to echocardiography and Cardiology Fellows commencing their training
- Participating in clinical research projects and quality improvement initiatives
- Opportunities to gain experience in other areas of the department, including Arrhythmia Services and the Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory
- A Bachelor of Applied Science or Bachelor of Science degree, preferably in a health science discipline
- Be registered with the Australian Sonographer Accreditation Registry (ASAR) as an Accredited Medical Sonographer, with current enrolment in a certified CPD program
- The ability to work across both the Arrhythmia and Echocardiography departments is highly desirable
- An ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

We are currently seeking experienced Night Shift Medical Imaging Technologist (Radiographer) to join our workforce at Casey Hospital. Permanent full-time and part-time opportunities are available.
As a key member of our overnight imaging team, you will provide high-quality diagnostic imaging services to support the Emergency Department, inpatient units, and urgent after-hours presentations. This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where you will exercise clinical judgement, manage competing priorities, and work closely with medical, nursing, and allied health teams to deliver timely patient care.
The successful applicant will be confident working independently, while also contributing to a supportive and collaborative after-hours team culture. A strong background in General X-ray is essential, with CT experience highly desirable.

About you

About the Role
As a theatre technician, you are a member of the multidisciplinary perioperative team. About the Monash Health Pathology Service
The Monash Health Pathology Service operates under the brand name Monash Pathology and is an integral part of Monash. It is the largest provider of Pathology services in the State of Victoria and currently operates 6 laboratories. The largest of these is located at the Monash Medical Centre, Clayton, with additional facilities being located at the Dandenong, Moorabbin, Casey, Victorian Heart Hospital and Wonthaggi Hospitals. There are currently 18 collection centres based within the hospital sites and community settings. Services are provided to the Public and Private sectors, and other laboratory services.
You will be joining Monash Health at an exciting time as we work in partnership with Alfred Health to be the premier shared public pathology service in Victoria. As a member of the pathology teams you will be helping shape the direction of this partnership.
About the Role
Join our team as a Medical Laboratory Technician Grade 1 on a casual basis to work at Diagnostic Genomics Laboratory, Monash Health Pathology based at Clayton. In this role, you will be guided under the leadership of the Principal Scientist, Senior Scientists, Pathologists and working with the broader Diagnostic Genomics Laboratory team. The Diagnostic Genomics Laboratory, Monash Pathology is made up of three different areas which operates a Monday to Friday service 8am to 5pm:

The Thalassemia and Haemophilia Molecular Laboratory’s role is to confirm the genetic basis for thalassaemia and other significant haemoglobinopathies, identify carrier status and perform prenatal testing for couples at risk of giving birth to children with severe disease. This laboratory also performs proband and carrier testing for Haemophilia A and Haemophilia B as well as prenatal testing.

The Cytogenetics Laboratory which processes a range of prenatal and postnatal specimens, using conventional and molecular diagnostic techniques. This includes DNA extraction, tissue culture, FISH, Microarray and Karyotyping.

The Genetics and Molecular Pathology Laboratory which provides a specialised genetic testing service for oncology, haematology as well as inherited diseases. Our genomics team currently offers DNA and RNA next generation sequencing (NGS) for targeted panels in solid tumour biology, haematology and cardiac. Additional NGS panels soon to be offered will include investigations into cancer predisposition disorders and WES for monogenic disorders.
The successful candidate will predominately:

Assist the Thalassemia and Haemophilia Molecular Laboratory and the Genetics and Molecular Pathology Laboratory with a range of diagnostic techniques which may include specimen reception and other administration tasks, DNA extraction, and participation in laboratory meetings and future educational development.

You are an experienced Pathology Courier who would like to join our courier team on a full time basis.
The role involves the collection and delivery of pathology specimens from designated locations throughout Melbourne; it also involves sorting of mail and delivery of pathology reports and consumables.
- Collection of specimens from designated locations as per courier run sheets.
- Delivery of specimens and request forms to the Pathology Lab in the appropriate containers
- Collection, sorting, enveloping and delivery of Pathology reports
- Delivery of consumable items as required
- Adhere to the safety requirements of safe specimen transportation at all times
- To be able to achieve work goals and have the ability to work independently.
Classifications for this position will range from classification range JJ8 ($57,002.40 per annum pro rata).

About the Role
Join our team as a Grade 1 Medical Scientist (RX1-RX7) on a full time ongoing basis, to work at Monash Medical Centre based at Clayton. In this role, you will be guided under the leadership of the Anatomical Principal Scientist and working with the broader histology team.
We have a fixed term maternity leave position 76hrs F/N + ADO running until October 2027.
The successful candidate will be required to participate in staff rotations, overtime and on call & out of hour rosters as directed. Operational hours of the laboratory are 05:00 - 21:00 Monday to Friday and 06:00 - 14:30 Saturday. You must be able to perform tests provided by the unit without supervision (following suitable training) which include:

Perform and assist with the specimen cut up;
-
Embed and section of biopsy material for diagnostic and necropsy specimens;
-
Prepare frozen sections for urgent diagnosis;
-
Perform routine, special staining and immunohistochemistry techniques using prescribed methodologies and appropriate control procedures;

Assist at renal biopsy procedure to insure appropriate tissue sampling;
-
Assist with a range of mortuary duties;
-
Other duties as directed.
About You

About the Role
The Haematology Clinical Research Centre is seeking a Specimen Shipment Laboratory Assistant to support the management, documentation and shipment of biological specimens associated with haematology clinical research.
Working under the guidance of the Unit Manager, you will coordinate the preparation and shipment of laboratory samples to local and international sponsors, ensuring specimens are handled, documented and dispatched safely and within study-specific requirements. You will play an important role in supporting the efficient operation of the Haematology Clinical Research Centre through accurate specimen tracking, database management, courier coordination and adherence to clinical trial laboratory manuals and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and adhere to clinical trial laboratory manuals and study-specific instructions for the shipment of biological specimens.
Prepare and check shipping documentation, including airway bills, customs documentation, specimen manifests, proformas and other study-specific documentation.
Complete required paperwork and maintain accurate tracking and identification records for specimens leaving the laboratory.
Coordinate daily courier bookings for specimens being shipped from the Haematology Clinical Research Centre.
Collect processed samples from St Vincent's Pathology and ensure they are safely packed and prepared for shipment to local and international laboratories.
Coordinate the preparation and dispatch of shipments according to study-specific schedules, ensuring time-sensitive specimens are sent within required timeframes.
Enter and maintain accurate data in clinical trial databases, disease registries and other research databases.
Assist with the identification, documentation and escalation of specimen shipment deviations, errors, near misses and incidents in accordance with departmental procedures.
Assist with the development, review and implementation of specimen shipment procedures, checklists, templates and other operational documentation.
Complete mandatory hospital training and study-specific training relating to specimen handling, processing and shipment.
Work collaboratively with Clinical Trial Coordinators, Clinical Research Nurses, laboratory staff, investigators and other members of the multidisciplinary research team.
Contribute to the efficient and safe operation of the Haematology Clinical Research Centre.

About the Role
We’re seeking a Senior Medical Scientist to lead our Automated Chemistry area, overseeing quality, technical excellence and team capability within a high-performing tertiary pathology environment.
Reporting to the Principal Medical Scientist and with the assistance of Pathologists, the Principal Scientist and Automated Chemistry Scientists, you will be responsible for the performance of assays in the Automated area. You will ensure that accurate, high quality and timely results and reports are produced.
Key Responsibilities
Whilst no two days look the same in this role, day-to-day duties may include:
Oversee the Automated Chemistry section: participating in Quality Control and Assurance programs, whilst reviewing and recording non-conformances
Lead a small team of scientists and technical staff within the Automated area, assisting with maintaining the team’s training, education and competency
Ensure equipment maintenance, troubleshooting and record keeping is kept according to protocols
Oversee the usage and performance of the ABL90 blood gas instruments using AQURE, whilst assisting in the training of non-laboratory staff to operate the instrument where required
Drive continuous improvement through the development and implementation of new and improved methods in line with the quality objectives of Biochemistry
Maintain NATA-compliant procedures and documentation.
Classifications for this position will range from RZ5 - RZ7 ($127,535 - $148,309 per annum, plus superannuation), with access to generous salary-packaging benefits.
Your Contribution
The preferred candidate will hold the following skills and attributes:
A Bachelor’s degree in Science, Applied Science or equivalent
Expert knowledge of clinical and laboratory Chemical Pathology, ideally with a minimum of 10 years’ experience
Technical expertise in operating and trouble-shooting a range of general chemistry laboratory instrumentation
Medical laboratory experience in a tertiary hospital or private pathology laboratory, in a day-to-day management role
Demonstrated ability to manage a team
Current, or a willingness to obtain a National Criminal History Check, and NDIS Worker Screening Check

About the Biochemistry Department
The Biochemistry Department is a major section of St Vincent’s Pathology, performing and supporting the results of specialist studies and analysis including molecular biology (PCR), protein electrophoresis, immunochemistry, specific IgE assays, chromatography, immunosuppressant monitoring, breath testing, autoimmune serology, blood gases and automated general biochemical analysis. The department is closely integrated with St Vincent’s Pathology Point of Care Testing (POCT) services and is the pathology centre for co-ordination of Clinical Trials and Contract Testing.
