Our Chief Information Officer has one question for Queensland’s technology leaders…
What would you do with the opportunity to transform the technology platforms behind one of Queensland’s largest organisations?
Join our Digital & Technology senior leadership team and take on an enterprise-wide portfolio of significant scale and complexity. You’ll lead the people, platforms and partnerships behind critical capabilities across UnitingCare, with the opportunity to influence at executive level and shape how we deliver and evolve technology for the future.
Based in Brisbane, you’ll report directly to the Group Executive, Digital & Technology, leading 6 direct reports and 30 indirect reports across a significant enterprise portfolio.
Where Scale meets Purpose
You may know us through BlueCare, ARRCS, Lifeline, or our hospitals including The Wesley, St Andrew’s War Memorial, Buderim Private and St Stephen’s. Together, UnitingCare supports more than 400,000 people every year across Queensland and the Northern Territory. With more than 16,500 employees and 9,000 volunteers, we are Queensland’s second-largest employer and a not-for-profit with more than 100 years of history.
Our Digital & Technology team is transforming how technology enables an organisation of this scale. We’re focused on building fit-for-purpose, scalable services, putting our customers at the centre, strengthening partnerships and taking ownership of the outcomes we deliver. This role will be instrumental in what comes next.
The Scope of the Role
Spanning enterprise technology, transformation, operational performance, strategic partnerships and people, your scope will include:
- Leading the Enterprise and Aged Care Platforms portfolio, encompassing HR, payroll, workforce management, finance modernisation and billing, enterprise CRM, BlueCare capabilities, integration, testing and release.
- Setting the direction for how these platforms evolve, improving customer experience, operational efficiency and performance while driving continuous improvement across the portfolio.
- Building influential partnerships across UnitingCare, working from executive level through to business and technical teams to ensure technology priorities align with organisational outcomes.
- Leading strategic vendor partnerships and delivery performance, ensuring external providers are integrated effectively and accountable for outcomes.
- Creating the conditions for high performance, developing capability across your team, setting clear expectations and building a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Contributing to the broader direction of Digital & Technology as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, helping UnitingCare operate as one integrated organisation while balancing its mission with the commercial realities of a large not-for-profit.
What You Will Bring
As a highly senior technology leader with the depth to lead complex enterprise platforms and transformation,
combined with the ability to influence across a large and complex organisation. You’ll bring:
- Significant experience across enterprise technology, with strong capability in product and platform management, technology delivery, enterprise solutions and change.
- A track record of leading complex, enterprise-scale technology services, programs and transformation, with a focus on customer outcomes, architecture alignment and value.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams to deliver and continually evolve digital products and platforms in complex enterprise environments.
- The ability to move confidently between strategy and execution, setting direction while maintaining a strong focus on delivery, performance and outcomes.
- Strong communication, influencing and negotiation capability, with the credibility to build trusted relationships with executives, senior leaders, business stakeholders and technology teams.
- Demonstrated experience building capable, high-performing teams and developing others.
- A tertiary qualification in information technology, information management, business management or a related field.
- Willingness to undertake an Australian Federal Police National Police Check prior to appointment.
Highly Regarded
- A qualification in portfolio, program or project management, financial management, or service management (for example ITIL).
- Experience managing digital products and platforms at a whole-of-enterprise level and reviewing initiatives to drive corrective action and continuous improvement.
- Extensive, large-scale, end-to-end agile delivery experience in fast-paced, complex environments.
- Experience working in an outsourced environment and managing the performance of external service providers.
- Exceptional stakeholder management with both technical and non-technical audiences, and a track record of high-quality executive reports, standards and presentations.
- Experience delivering digital or technology services relevant to this scope (HR, finance, workforce management), and an understanding of the aged care, health, community services and not-for-profit sectors.
What makes a difference for you?
The opportunity to be part of the second-largest Queensland employer who has been leading by example for more than 100 years. Joining our team, you’ll be welcomed as part of the UnitingCare family. We’re a proud not-for-profit with more than 16,500 staff and 9,000 volunteers across our brands of BlueCare, Lifeline, ARRCS, The Wesley Hospital, Buderim Private Hospital, St Stephen’s Hospital, and St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital.
