We are seeking an experienced and inspiring Medical Lead to provide clinical leadership and strategic direction within our University Health and Counselling Service.
This is a unique opportunity to combine clinical excellence with leadership in a purpose-driven environment that places student wellbeing at the heart of everything we do. As Medical Lead, you will play a key role in shaping the delivery of primary healthcare services for a diverse student population while supporting a team of dedicated clinicians to provide outstanding patient-centred care.
Working closely with the General Manager and senior leadership team, you will contribute to service planning, clinical governance, quality improvement initiatives, and the ongoing development of a positive, collaborative, and high-performing clinical culture.

Key responsibilities include:
Providing clinical leadership and support to medical practitioners within UHCS
Promoting excellence in clinical practice, patient safety, and quality improvement initiatives
Supporting clinical governance activities and ensuring compliance with relevant professional standards and legislation
Contributing to service planning, operational decision-making, and strategic initiatives
Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including nurses, counsellors, psychologists, and administrative staff
Supporting workforce development, mentoring, and professional growth within the medical team
Maintaining a high standard of clinical care through direct patient consultations
Supporting the development and implementation of evidence-based healthcare practices
Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external healthcare providers

This role combines clinical leadership with hands-on practice, allowing you to continue delivering care while helping drive service excellence and positive health outcomes for students.
This is a full-time, 37.5 hours per week role on a permanent contract.

Key responsibilities include:

You will bring:
Registration as a medical practitioner in New Zealand with a current NZMC Practising Certificate and indemnity insurance
Fellowship of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners.
At least two years’ experience in General Practice, ideally including primary or emergency care
Current CPR or Advanced Life Support certification
Experience working in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment
Proven experience working with young adults and diverse communities
Confidence using clinical systems such as MedTech or similar practice management software
Experience working within a university or student-focused health service would be an advantage but is not essential.

The Position
Skilled Medical is seeking an Intensive Care (ICU) Registrar to join the Intensive Care Unit at Hawke's Bay Fallen Soldiers Memorial Hospital commencing on 2 March or 3 August 2026.
Health Service
This ICU is accredited as a C12 unit under the CICM training program, with endorsements for General, Rural, and Paediatric training. They actively support CICM candidates, helping them prepare for Part 1 and Part 2 exams, and have a history of trainees successfully completing their CICM research projects during their time in the department. Non-training registrars have also published research projects in peer-reviewed journals. All registrars have the chance to get involved in quality improvement and research initiatives, contributing to the ongoing advancement of our department.
The successful candidate would join a team of 12-14 Registrars and a diverse group of nurses, doctors, and allied health professionals. The ICU provides critical care for both adult and paediatric patients, managing complex cases and transporting patients within Hawkes Bay and to tertiary referral centres. You'll have opportunities to be involved in rotary wing and road transfers.
The Location
Hawkes Bay Hospital is a 400-bed secondary-level public hospital in Hastings, serving a population of over 180,000 people. They offer both acute and elective care across a wide range of medical and surgical specialties, including paediatrics, obstetrics & gynaecology, and more. Although they don't provide cardiothoracic and neurosurgery, they are supported by a strong regional ICU team, ensuring comprehensive care for a diverse patient population. Hawkes Bay offers excellent work-life balance, sun, beaches, exceptional outdoor adventures, great schools, mountains and skiing close by, wonderful food and stunning wineries, vibrant cities and plenty more to boast about.

The Position
As an Emergency Medicine Registrar at Whakatāne Hospital, you will work in a smaller, yet dynamic and high-functioning ED that serves a rural and diverse population across the Eastern Bay of Plenty. The role includes clinical shifts rostered alongside experienced SMOs, non-clinical development days, and 1:4 weekend coverage. This position is accredited for 12 months of training with the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM). You will be exposed to a broad spectrum of presentations with the added challenge of rural medicine. This role also offers a great lifestyle balance with opportunities to enjoy the outdoors and contribute to community-centred healthcare.

The population of the Western Bay of Plenty is continuing to grow rapidly with high numbers of older adults retiring to the Bay alongside growth in industry and commerce attracting younger people and families to relocate to the region.

The Position
Are you looking for something different, do you have a sense of adventure... General Practitioner required for a small island in the Eastern South Pacific ocean, close to the Gambier Islands of French Polynesia.
In your role you will serve as the sole GP responsible for general sickness/ illness to the island and it's 45 permanent residents as well as being confident to handle medical emergencies in a remote situation. Ideally you will have a wide field of experience and knowledge, and have worked in small & isolated communities previously.
The appointment starts in September 2026 for a period of 6 months although longer terms can be accepted.
Package includes use of a two-bedroom house, quad bikes, travel to and from the island. You will have access to the internet, a NZ phone linked system and 24/7 support from UK health service providers based in Auckland.
Essential Criteria You must hold full GMC and be on the GMC GP Register in the UK. You must have current experience working as a General Practitioner in the UK To Apply
