The Position
This position provides the opportunity to lead and develop medical services in remote and rural settings working alongside a committed team of rural generalists, GPs and trainees, with some of Australia’s greatest National Parks at your doorstep.
An exciting opportunity for a suitable candidate to undertake medical administration training as a RACMA Registrar, based in Katherine and serving the Big Rivers Region. While this is envisaged as a full-time role, part time would be considered. While best suited to second or third year candidates, first year candidates would be considered, based on experience and skills. Would consider 3, 6 or 12 month rotation to provide excellent exposure to rural and remote medical administration.
The role will support the Director Medical Services with service planning, clinical governance and medical workforce leadership responsibilities with specific exposure to the issues of remote and Indigenous health. Current projects include primary health care integration, medical recruitment, locum engagement, Rural Generalist Training pathways, FIFO specialist engagement, aeromedical retrievals, service configuration, indigenous patient experience and service capability.

NT Cardiac is a private cardiac specialist practice which has been providing diagnostic and consultative services to both public and private patients over 25 years. We have a well-established local infrastructure, diagnostic capability and IT infrastructure to enable Virtual cardiac care. Given the increasing demand, we have successfully piloted remotely supported clinic and diagnostic reporting by cardiologists based in other states of Australia. Based on this success, we are looking to expand this model of care to support patients from all over the Northern Territory including Aboriginal patients from remote communities.
NT Cardiac is seeking of Expression of Interest from Cardiologists interested in providing Virtual Cardiac Care to both private and public patients across the Northern Territory. This role allows cardiologists to work remotely from their current base locations, leveraging on digital health platforms to deliver high-quality, patient-centred cardiac care across the NT.
This model of care is ideal for cardiologists who are committed to improving access to specialist services in regional and remote Australia with a keen interest in Aboriginal heart health, and who are comfortable using virtual systems to deliver clinical care.
About the Role
- Patient-focused cardiac services, including imaging and diagnostic solutions.
- Access to state-of-the-art equipment and facilities.
- Supportive team including dedicated admin staff for local support and coordination, nurses, experienced diagnostic technicians, cardiac sonographers.
- NT resident cardiologists will provide support and assistance for patients needing urgent face to face consultations or investigations.

- Aura Portal & VIP.Net- NT Cardiac's Patient Management System for scheduling, referrals, and reporting.
- HeartLab - for reviewing and reporting on echocardiograms.

- Synapse access to Radiology images
- Flexible or sessional arrangements working arrangements, including after hours.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide virtual consultation and diagnostic interpretation for referred patients.
- Refer, review and report on echocardiograms, ECGs, Holters and other investigations as required.
- Liaise with referring clinicians and NT Cardiac team to ensure continuity and quality of care.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation via the Aura Portal / Practice Management System.
Requirements
- Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in Cardiology or equivalent.
- Current specialist registration with AHPRA.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering high-quality cardiac care.
- Competency and comfort with telehealth and digital health platforms.
- Previous experience in regional, remote and aboriginal health would be preferable but not essential.

The ASMMHC provides the Alice Springs community an alternative service to attend when experiencing mental health crisis. The centre provides free, immediate, short and medium-term care to adults over the age of 18 years with the aim of making it easier for anyone living in Alice Springs to access equitable, free, and quality mental health support. The ASMMHC offers a welcoming place for people to access mental health information, services and supports from qualified professionals (clinical and lived experience staff) over extended hours.

To work within this role, you must either:- Hold a postgraduate qualification in Mental Healthwith a minimum of 5 years' MHspecialty experience, or
- Have a minimum of 7 years' specialist Mental Healthnursing experience if they do not hold a postgraduate qualification.
- Deliver comprehensive mental health assessments, care planning, implementation and evaluation
- Conduct mental state and risk assessments, crisis interventions and clinical formulation
- Provide evidence-based mental health interventions, therapeutic support and psychoeducation

You'll have current unrestricted AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) and either a postgraduate Mental Health qualification (AQF Level 8+) with 5 years' specialist mental health experience, or 7 years' specialist mental health nursing experience without a postgraduate qualification. You'll have experience in mental health assessment, crisis intervention and therapeutic care, with strong clinical reasoning, communication and computer skills, including electronic medical records. Experience in correctional health, forensic mental health, AOD or other high-acuity settings is highly regarded.
