The position delivers training, professional development, and workforce support activities across the Northern Territory. Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain collaborative, consultative relationships with Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHS) and key organisations to improve access to SEWB training programs delivered face-to-face and online.
- Work as a part of a team to contribute to the development of new or enhance existing high-quality training resources, tools, workshop plans and reports.
- Continuously develop and deepen content knowledge of SEWB training programs by undertaking self-initiated learning, evidence-based research and professional development initiatives.
- Along with other team members, facilitate SEWB training and organisational change programs that are underpinned by trauma informed approaches and provide workforce mentoring and support to ACCHS to apply in practice learning outcomes.

Selection Criteria (Qualifications & Attributes)

- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) suitable to a cross-cultural environment and a cross-section of stakeholders including Aboriginal community members, health professionals and senior managers.
- Ability to facilitate training and learning outcomes to diverse audiences and the ability to present AMSANT training programs in public forums.
- Possess project management and problem solving skills that contribute to planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of projects and initiatives.
- Understanding of or demonstrated knowledge of culturally safe and trauma-informed practice, issues surrounding suicide, grief and loss for Aboriginal people.
- Demonstrated ability to reflect on own skills and the available evidence base in relation to improving the quality of programs and program outcomes.
- Knowledge and proven ability to use the Microsoft Office suite of products including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and SharePoint.

Clinicians (APS 6) work within the Open Arms Division of the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA), providing counselling services to current and formerly serving Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel, their partners and families. They apply extensive knowledge and experience gained from a relevant background in psychology, social work, counselling, occupational therapy, or nursing to build rapport with clients, understand their unique experiences and work with them to identify goals that will enhance mental health and wellbeing.
Clinicians provide evidence-based assessment, formulation and treatment for a range of psychological conditions, and keep confidential care plans and clinical notes to reflect counselling progress. They may also provide co-facilitation for group programs alongside fellow Open Arms staff or external clinicians. With clients' consent, Clinicians will liaise with additional treatment providers, family members and/or key Open Arms and DVA stakeholders to enhance therapeutic support.
Reporting to the Assistant Director (EL 1) Clinicians are required to attend regular case reviews and operational supervision to discuss client progress and complex cases with the Assistant Director and other Clinicians. They are required to make decisions, problem solve and navigate complex client issues, whilst adhering to relevant legislation, ethical guidelines and policies. Critical thinking, communication and interpersonal skills are paramount, and Clinicians must demonstrate high levels of integrity and emotional intelligence. The Community Counsellor is a Darwin based position that will travel to Daly River on a regular basis and is responsible for engaging and networking with the Community for social, emotional and wellbeing in order for the program to meet its objectives. Deliver care within a supervised General and Acute Care Medicine service while developing advanced clinical skills in ambulatory medicine.
Participate in teaching, supervision and quality improvement activities to support excellent patient outcomes.
This General and Acute Care Medicine Advanced Trainee position provides broad ambulatory medicine experience across the outpatient and outreach services of the Division of Medicine. The trainee works alongside physicians across General and Acute Care Medicine, Endocrinology, Infectious Diseases, Respiratory Medicine, Rheumatology and Gastroenterology, providing multidisciplinary care to a culturally diverse patient population, including Aboriginal patients from remote communities.
The role provides experience across outpatient clinics and outreach services, supported by consultant supervision, with opportunities to participate in teaching, quality improvement and research. There may also be an opportunity to undertake a further 6-month placement in General and Acute Care Medicine or Respiratory Medicine Advanced Training.
To be successful in this role, candidates will possess the following qualifications, skills and attributes:
- Eligible for General registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Successful completion of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) written and clinical examinations and within two full-time years of completing the relevant specialist training program.
- Sound clinical knowledge in the assessment and management of patients with complex medical presentations across a broad range of adult medical specialties.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-cultural environment.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
