The Speech Pathologist is responsible for providing support to Aboriginal children and young people aged 0-18 and their families to optimise children's development. The position works within a multidisciplinary team providing assessments and early intervention strategies for children with a range of neurodevelopmental disorders including Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.
To be considered for this position, you will need to meet the following essential requirements:- Degree in Speech Pathology with eligibility for practicing membership of Speech Pathology Australia.
- Relevant post graduate experience in the delivery of evidence based interventions for children and their families presenting with complex issues.
- Proven skills in the assessment and therapeutic intervention for a range of childhood disabilities including physical, cognitive and emotional development.
- The ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team, managing a complex case load.
- Demonstrated understanding of and/or experience in the issues impacting on Aboriginal children's health and development, including knowledge of Aboriginal culture, history and current issues affecting the lives of Aboriginal people in Central Australia.
- Knowledge of Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) items and ability to claim appropriately.
- Current NT Drivers Licence or ability to obtain one.
- Work that is community-led, impact-focused and a part of a bigger picture.

CYATS is part of the Child, Youth and Family Services Division and provides specialist multidisciplinary assessment, treatment and early intervention for children and young people. You'll work alongside Speech Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Neuropsychologists, Aboriginal Family Support Workers and Clinical Case Coordinators.
About the Role:As a Speech Pathologist within CYATS, you will support children and young people aged 0-18 and their families to optimise development and wellbeing.
You will:Conduct speech, language and developmental assessments and observations
Provide evidence-based intervention, strategies and intensive support
Manage a clinical caseload involving assessment and treatment
Support children experiencing FASD, Autism, ADHD and other developmental challenges
Provide education and practical strategies to families, carers, support staff and external partners
Participate in case coordination and care plan reviews
Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and external services
Provide outreach support to children and families
Prepare clinical reports and contribute to coordinated care
Degree in Speech Pathology with eligibility for Speech Pathology Australia membership
Relevant postgraduate experience working with children and families presenting with complex needs
Experience in assessment and intervention across childhood disabilities and developmental challenges
Ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary team
Strong understanding of Aboriginal health, culture and the issues impacting Aboriginal children and families
Knowledge of Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) requirements
Current NT Driver Licence or ability to obtain
Postgraduate qualifications in child health/development and experience working with Aboriginal communities in Central Australia will be highly regarded.
