About the Role
The Midwifery Group Practice Midwife will aim to expand the options for maternal health services for pregnant Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and women having an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander baby. The MGP midwife will provide clinical, cultural, educational and psychological support as well as enhancing the seamless transition to child and family health nursing and to other services or agencies as required. The MGP midwife will also have the opportunity to work with women who are not Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, when there is space within their caseload.
Demonstrate a broad range of midwifery skills and knowledge to provide and coordinate woman-centred, evidence-informed, high quality, midwifery care (consistent with NSW and SLHD policies, procedures and standards) for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, and women having an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander baby, and their partners and families across the continuum of pregnancy, birth and the postnatal/newborn period.

Ideal Candidate
- Current registration with AHPRA.
- Availability and capacity to work and participate in an on-call, (24 hour per day/7 day per week) roster across the continuum of care that includes pregnancy, labour, birth and the postnatal period as specified in the Pilot Annualised Salary agreement.
- Promotes understanding and respect of Aboriginal philosophies of health and wellbeing as holistic concepts and ensure knowledge, values and beliefs are at the core of the delivery of care.
- Current NSW Drivers Licence (P1 and P2 Licence Acceptable) and willingness to travel in the course of employment.
This is an Aboriginal identified position, and the applicant must be of Aboriginal and/ or Torres Strait islander descent (pursuant to section 14 (d) of the Anti- Discrimination Act 1977)

About the role

- Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary perioperative team to support safe and efficient theatre operations.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and respond confidently to changing clinical situations.
- Maintain strict adherence to infection prevention, aseptic technique and patient safety standards.
- Complete required surgical counts and documentation accurately.

About the Opportunity
An exciting opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse to join Bulahdelah Community Health Service and become part of a supportive multidisciplinary team delivering care to the local community.
Working within a small and collaborative team, you’ll be connected with a diverse range of health services including Palliative Care, Nurse Led Clinic, Wound Management and Child and Family Health, as well as a range of visiting and outreach services. The broader multidisciplinary team includes Continence, Diabetes Education, Dietetics, Aged Care, Paediatric Speech Therapy, Paediatric Physiotherapy, Paediatric Occupational Therapy, Child and Family Counselling, Mental Health and Women’s Health.
You’ll be supported by the Nurse Unit Manager, with specialist guidance from the Wound Management Specialist and Clinical Nurse Educator for relevant clinical tasks and competencies. The Palliative Care team and Clinical Nurse Consultant will also provide support as required. Education and training opportunities will be encouraged and supported where relevant to the core business of the Community Nursing Team, helping you continue to develop your clinical skills and confidence.
What You Will Be Doing
As a Community Registered Nurse, you’ll provide high-quality, person-centred care to patients requiring wound management and palliative care across both clinic and home settings.
You will:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in their homes and in the community health clinic.
- Assess, manage and monitor a diverse range of wounds.
- Apply your knowledge of wound physiology and the wound healing process to clinical practice.
- Provide compassionate, person-centred palliative care to patients and their families.
- Develop and implement individualised care plans in partnership with patients, families and the multidisciplinary team.
- Coordinate and prioritise your caseload to ensure safe, timely and effective care.
- Work closely with the Palliative Care team, Wound Management Specialist and other health professionals.
- Provide education and support to patients and families to promote independence, comfort and quality of life.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and communicate effectively with relevant healthcare providers.
- Contribute to a positive, collaborative team environment and ongoing improvement in community nursing practice.

What You Will Be Doing

- Developing and implementing individualised plans of care.

About the role
As a Registered Nurse within Barraba Community Health Service, you’ll provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with a range of health needs.
You’ll work both independently and collaboratively to deliver safe, compassionate care in line with best practice.
You’ll have access to ongoing clinical support and education from Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Nurse Consultants (CNCs) and Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNSs), as well as a range of online learning platforms.
In this role, you will:
- Manage an individual patient caseload within the community setting.
- Provide nursing care across both the Community and Community Clinic.
- Undertake comprehensive nursing assessments and develop care plans based on individual patient needs.
- Provide complex wound assessment, treatment and ongoing management.
- Undertake catheter management and provide education and support to patients and carers.
- Provide safe and effective medication management.
- Support patients receiving palliative care, including providing compassionate support to patients and their families.
- Identify patient needs and facilitate appropriate clinical referrals.
With a Monday to Friday, 5-day-a-week service (excluding public holidays), this role offers the opportunity to enjoy community nursing while maintaining a great work-life balance.
