About The Opportunity
This is a Permanent full time position for a Staff Specialist with Campbelltown and Camden Obstetrics & Gynaecology Department. This position will also serve as a temporary appointment as the Obstetrics Head of Department for the remainder of Quinquennium.
What You'll be doing
Review and monitor women attending obstetric outpatient services who receive a consistent woman centered quality service across Antenatal clinics, Feto-Maternal Assessment Unit & Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit.
- Provide clinical governance & obstetric leadership for Birthing unit policy and procedure development
- Active surveillance of obstetric KPIs including maternal & perinatal morbidity and mortality
- Review and monitor postpartum care of women in the hospital and via the midwifery-support program at home following early discharge
- Develop and expand models of care to meet the needs of women, including continuity of care high risk and low-risk midwifery models, as well as GPSC
- Focus on improving obstetric outcomes for vulnerable women including Aboriginal, CALD, migrant and refugee groups, and women with identified psycho-social vulnerabilities.
- Demonstrate ongoing commitment to improving obstetric indicators ACHS, WHA, HACs.

About the role

What you'll be doing
In addition to the normal Senior Medical Practitioner position description for the relevant clinical specialty, the incumbent will work in partnership with the Director of Mental Health Nursing/District Director of Service /General Manager and the District Clinical/ District Director in order to ensure that the Department provides high quality medical and health care services with safe, efficient and effective use of allocated resources, in line with the organisational objectives and the Clinical Services Plan.
It is imperative that the Clinical Director works in collaboration with other senior staff within the department and Site or Directorate, requiring reliable and consistent communication methods to achieve shared tasks. The Clinical Director role is a key enabler to enhance patient flow by ensuring the appropriate and timely interaction of team members with Emergency Department admissions and Allied Health and other staff to limit the Length of Stay of those admissions whilst under their care.
A key role for the Clinical Director is the dissemination of information for actioning or decision making amongst the Department and to represent that team at site and area HOD meetings.
The Clinical Director will play a key role in the overall clinical governance of mental health services, including Annual Performance Reviews and in the development and implementation of clinical models of care, consistent withbest practice and quality improvement.

The new Eurobodalla Regional Hospital (ERH) will be larger than Moruya and Batemans Bay hospitals combined, designed with the capacity to grow as demand for services changes. The NSW Government has funded $330 million to build a sustainable, modern and purpose-built hospital to support the needs of the entire Eurobodalla Community. The facility is due to open in 2027. The new Eurobodalla Regional Hospital will include:
- Increased capacity for chemotherapy treatments and increased access to renal dialysis
- Surgical and operating theatres and a day stay surgicalunit
- Expanded medical imaging, including MRI
- Ambulatory care for community outpatient services
- Paediatric and maternity services, and a special carenursery
- Mental health beds for short term admissions, and
- Enhanced education and training facilities, including a simulation laboratory.
What you'll be doing
The Paediatrician will provide expert paediatric medical assessment and management of patients within the Department of Paediatrics. Role also includes a key clinical role in teaching, supervision and support of junior medical staff. The position will commence at the current Moruya Hospital and assist in the transition to the new Eurobodalla Regional Hospital. Once established the role will primarily be located at Eurobodalla Regional Hospital however may be varied as agreed with the District Director of Medical Services and District Medical Lead (Paediatrics) and as approved via Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee (MDAAC) to other facilities in Southern NSW. The Paediatrician will be the first Eurobodalla based paediatrician joining the coastal paediatric team based at South East Regional Hospital. The Eurobodalla paediatrician will be expected to provide outpatient clinics at the current Moruya Hospital and then the Eurobodalla Regional Hospital and outreach clinics in Narooma and Batemans Bay with the possibility of additional sites being added in the future. The paediatrician will participate in the provision of education and training in the SNSWLHD Coastal Network. This position also involves 1in 4 participation in a 24/7 on call roster to Eurobodalla Regional Hospital with telehealth consultation services to hospitals in the Coastal Network. The scope of practice and clinical privileges are defined in the scope of clinical practice for general paediatrics Southern NSW LHD attached to this document.
Selection Criteria
Recognised specialist qualifications - Fellow of The Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) or the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) with Advanced Skills Training in Paediatrics
Demonstrated recent clinical experience and competence in general paediatric medicine including acute care, neonatal care and outpatient general paediatrics (including learning, development and behavioural medicine). Demonstrated interest and skills in paediatric service development, innovative models of care, and project leadership is desirable.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and build collaborative partnerships towards a successful outcome
Strong skills in training and capacity building with demonstrated commitment and skills in teaching, continuing self-education, research and quality improvement.

The Paediatric General Surgery Registrar contributes to the delivery of high-quality surgical services to inpatient and outpatient paediatric patients across WCHN. The role provides broad exposure to emergency, elective and ambulatory paediatric surgery, including participation in after-hours and remote on-call services. Working under Consultant supervision, the Registrar develops advanced clinical skills while contributing to teaching, research, quality improvement and multidisciplinary patient care. - Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist, and/or specialist international medical graduate pathways
- Current Colonoscopy and Gastroscopy certification or recertification with the Gastroenterological Society of Australia or ability to obtain certification within 6 months of commencement
- Demonstrated recent clinical experience in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the role delineation of the service
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a team
- Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement
- Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time
