About the roleHunter Valley Private Hospital and Newcastle Private Hospital are offering an exciting opportunity for an Occupational Therapist Locum to join their Allied Health Teams to fill a casual position across both sites.
We are looking for a highly skilled individual to bring their energy and experience to our friendly team. Are you an experienced Occupational Therapist seeking a new challenge? Do you have experience adopting a client-centered and goal-directed approach? We would love to hear from you.
You will be part of an interdisciplinary team that provides evidence-based rehabilitation for a range of caseloads including inpatient neurological and orthopaedic rehabilitation and day only rehabilitation patients at HVPH and a mix of acute and rehabilitation patients at NPH to assist with leave cover.
About usHunter Valley Private Hospital (HVPH), located in Newcastle, provides medical (geriatric and palliation), rehabilitation and surgical services. Newcastle Private Hospital (NPH) provides maternity, cardiac, oncology and rehabilitation services. Both hospitals are accredited by the ACHS and have a dedicated focus on providing quality healthcare to our patients.

- Contribute to efficient and effective running of the department
- Demonstrate a commitment to continuous quality improvement and occupational health and safety
- Deliver a high standard of customer service at all times
- Bachelor of Health Science (Occupational Therapy)
- Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
- Experience in the role of a rehabilitation occupational therapist
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel spreadsheets

The Opportunity
We are looking for aRegional Team Leadto provide localised support to our Hunter Speech Pathology & Dietetics team. You will balance maintaining your own caseload along with supporting three new Grads and circa five experienced clincians (this varies as we grow and with parental leave). As a community- based role, we predominantly see our clients either in their homes, group homes, aged care facilities or in a public setting that's relevant for them eg in a cafe to test out some new AAC. We want to see our clients where they are most comfortable whilst also giving you a diverse role full of variety and learning opportunities. Some of our team schedule a full day of seeing clients one day, then balance this with a work from home day or an office day to write reports, prepare resources, have supervision / training. Or you can mix things up depending how you like to work. A community role is great as it allows you to have genuine flexibility and control over how you structure your days and therefore you don't miss your afternoon sport or being able to drop the kids to school in the mornings / pick them up in the afternoons! Logistically, we have a waterfront office inTorontowith convenient free parking and the role can be structured asfull-timeorpart-time. Depending where you are based, we can tailor your caseload to service clients around Maitland, Newcastle or Lake Macquarie. You will have someone assigned to you in admin to assist with scheduling appointments and they will work with you to ensure you aren't zigzagging around the Hunter and you'll have clients to see close to home.
Your day to day
The caseload is people over 16yrs of age, and includes those with a range of disabilities (e.g. intellectual disability, Autism, Down Syndrome), neurological events (e.g. stroke, acquired brain injury, brain tumour), and degenerative disease (e.g. Parkinson's Disease, Motor Neurone Disease, Huntington's Disease, dementia). You will have the opportunity to provide assessment, therapy and management to clients with a range of speech pathology diagnosis including: non-verbal, dysphagia, dyspraxia, aphasia, pragmatics, voice clients. Within this role you will have the fantastic opportunity to work primarily in client's homes, group homes and where appropriate in our clinics. You will be working within a motivated team that embraces therapy that is person-centred, goal based and uses the latest evidence based methods. Who Your Work Helps
Your caseload will consist of people over 16yrs of age, who may have a range of disabilities (e.g. intellectual disability, Autism, Down Syndrome), neurological events (e.g. stroke, acquired brain injury, brain tumour), and/or a degenerative disease (e.g. Parkinson's Disease, Motor Neurone Disease, Huntington's Disease, dementia). You will service individuals with complex needs in the community and within group homes (including speech, language and swallowing assessments and therapy, mealtime management plans). You will have the opportunity to provide assessment, therapy and management to clients with a range of speech pathology diagnosis including: non-verbal, dysphagia, dyspraxia, aphasia, pragmatics, voice clients. About the Role:

About the role
The Health Support Officer supports students with complex health care needs to access education. Trained and assessed by RNs, they deliver health support at school or hospital sites, assist with personal care, and follow health plans under supervision.
Key duties of the role
- Provide health support to students with complex or invasive needs using procedures and health plans under RN supervision
- Perform delegated care, deliver personal care (including medication administration), and respond to emergencies
- Maintain confidentiality, dignity, independence, and safety of students
- Ensure health equipment and medications are available, functioning, and report any issues
- Participate in training, competency assessments, professional development, and quality improvement
Skills and Experience
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Current Drivers Licence
- Effective written and oral communication within a multidisciplinary team
- Provide sensitive client support, maintain confidentiality, and follow instructions
- Identify and manage emergencies using established procedures
- Knowledge of infection control, occupational health, and safety practices
Specific to OPS2:
- Cert III in Disability or equivalent
- Demonstrated experience in high-intensity care (e.g., enteral feeding, catheterisation, tracheostomy, oxygen management)
