- Temporary Full-Time – up to 26 March 2027
About the Role:
An exciting opportunity is presented to work within the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network as a Registered Nurse within the Mental Health Hospital in the Home Unit.
Adelaide's Northern suburbs are home to a community that deserves mental health care that meets people where they are — literally. NALHN Mental Health Services is seeking a skilled and values-driven clinician to join the Hospital in the Home (HiTH) team at Salisbury Adult Mental Health Service on a full-time contract through to 26 March 2027.
What You'll Be Doing
Embedded within the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network's community mental health framework, this role delivers acute-level care to consumers in their own environment — reducing unnecessary inpatient admissions and supporting meaningful recovery in the community. Your core responsibilities will include:
- Providing intensive, time-limited clinical support to adults experiencing acute mental health episodes within a Hospital in the Home model
- Applying a recovery-oriented framework to develop and review individualised care plans in genuine partnership with consumers and their supports
- Collaborating closely with inpatient, community, and GP services to ensure safe, coordinated transitions of care
- Contributing to clinical handover, documentation, and risk assessment to the standard expected of SA Health's community mental health services
What You'll Bring
- Demonstrated practice within a recovery-oriented and person-centred model of care
- Confidence in conducting mental health assessments and managing clinical risk in community settings
- Understanding of NALHN's service catchment and the social determinants affecting Northern Adelaide communities
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Current SA driver's licence suitable for community-based home visiting
To be eligible for this position, you must be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate. You must also be enrolled in an approved Mental Health course or holds a qualification in mental health practice.
About You:
In this role you will have strong interpersonal and communication skills which will enable you to successfully problem solve, resolve conflicts and negotiate, including the ability to engage in difficult conversations, whilst building and maintaining relationships. An ability to effectively manage multiple, diverse and competing priorities and demonstrated resilience within a stressful and complex environment is essential to this role.
You will be joining a dynamic and expanding Local Health Network that is committed to delivering contemporary, innovative and high‑quality health services within modern facilities.
This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a passionate, highly driven, dedicated and progressive team.
