About the role

Chaplaincy is a vital and expanding part of Anglicare, which demands intentionally evangelistic and pastorally orientated ministry.

The purpose of the Chaplain is to provide spiritual leadership in the home, and to provide emotional support to the home’s community, firstly to residents of the Home, as well as their families and the staff.

In the role of Chaplain, you will be based on site at the home alongside the Pastoral Carers to form the Pastoral Care Team of the home.

A healthy and thriving Chaplaincy ministry in the home is achieved through developing individual relationships with each resident and providing support according to their needs and preferences, while building trust and rapport with Home Management and staff. 

Key responsibilities (not limited to): 

• Provide a Christ Centred pastoral approach through visitation, teaching, preaching, and conducting Church services in the home.

• Support residents with their spiritual needs, facilitate their ongoing spiritual growth, enable non-Christian residents to explore the Christian faith and encourage Christian residents in their faith

• Provide spiritual hope and support to residents living with dementia and needing end-of-life care, and their families

• Promote the NILS program within the local community to increase awareness and access.

• Build positive relationships with referral agencies, community organisations, government services and other local stakeholders.

• Build positive and collaborative relationships with the entire NILS team and wider Financial Wellbeing team.

• Attend community forums, networking meetings and promotional activities.

• Maintain appropriate client documentation and statistical information in accordance with organisational, legislative and funding requirements.

What you'll bring

You're an experienced facilitator who understands that financial capability is about more than numbers - it's about helping people build knowledge, confidence and greater control over their financial wellbeing.

You'll bring strong facilitation skills together with the ability to coach, mentor and positively influence the practice of others.

You enjoy working collaboratively, sharing knowledge and finding new ways to make group education practical, engaging and relevant to the people participating.

You'll also be comfortable moving between practice leadership and frontline delivery - supporting colleagues one day and facilitating workshops with community participants the next.
