If you require any assistance with your application or have any questions about this position, please get in touch with the contact person listed in this advertisement.
About the opportunity
An exciting opportunity to lead, influence and shape the future of medical services at Bathurst Health Service.
Bathurst Health Service is entering one of the most significant periods of transformation in its history, with a $200 million hospital redevelopment underway that will deliver expanded and contemporary facilities, including a substantially larger Emergency Department, ehanced maternity services, new inpatient facilities and improved specialist and ambulatory care services.
We are seeking an experienced, forward-thinking and collaborative Director of Medical Services (DMS) to join our Executive Leadership Team and help shape the future of healthcare for Bathurst and the surrounding communities.
Reporting directly to the General Manager, the DMS will provide strategic, clinical and operational leadership across medical services, with responsibility for clinical governance, medical workforce planning and development, quality and safety, and the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care.
This is much more than an operational leadership role. It is an opportunity to influence the future direction of a major rural referral hospital, strengthen clinical leadership and culture, and lead the development of sustainable medical services and contemporary models of care that will support our growing community.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the $200 million redevelopment delivers not only new infrastructure, but genuine service transformation. This includes leading medical workforce planning, supporting service redesign, strengthening multidisciplinary collaboration and ensuring our clinical services are ready to maximise the opportunities created by the redevelopment.
Working in close partnership with the General Manager and Executive Leadership Team, the DMS will also help drive improvements in access to care, patient flow, emergency care performance and clinical governance, while building a positive, accountable and engaged medical workforce.
As a key clinical leader within Western NSW Local Health District, the DMS will contribute to strengthening specialist clinical networks and partnerships across the Southern Sector, particularly between Bathurst and Orange Health Services, supporting the more integrated, sustainable and equitable access to specialist care.
We are looking for a medical leader who brings credibility, sound judgement, a genuine commitment to developing people and the ability to bring clinicians together around a shared purpose. Someone who is comfortable leading through complexity, values collaboration and is motivated by the opportunity to make a lasting difference.
This is an opportunity to be part of something significant – helping shape the next chapter of Bathurst Health Service and the delivery of exceptional healthcare for our community.
