Position details
The Team
Flinders Island Multi Purpose Centre
- The Flinders Island Multi-Purpose Centre comprises nine aged care beds, five acute beds, an Outpatient and Emergency service, physiotherapy, x-ray, podiatry/footcare and visiting services.
- Flinders Island is a rural and remote tier one facility well supported by GPs.
- A scenic island with a welcoming community of approximately 900 people.
The Role
- Under supervision, and in accordance with Agency policy, legal, regulatory, and funded program requirements, the Health Care Assistant provides high quality care and support to community and/or facility-based clients and assists with a range of daily living activities that a person would normally do for themselves.

Details of appointment
- Permanent part time, shift worker position, working 32 hours per fortnight, commencing from as soon as you can join us.
*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary
$65,827 to $68,854 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Union Wages Agreement 2025

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

We are seeking applications from enthusiastic and committed candidates for the Infectious Diseases Trainee position at The Sutherland Hospital for the 2027 clinical year.
Where you'll be working
The Sutherland Hospital is a 375 bed Major Metropolitan Teaching Hospital affiliated with the University of NSW, located in the Sutherland Shire 25 kilometres from the Sydney CBD. A 44 bed Emergency Department which includes 3 resuscitation bays, dedicated Adult and Paediatric Fast Track areas, an 8 bed ED Short Stay Unit, a collocated Radiology Department with CT scanner. The addition of 60 new acute inpatient beds, including 6 additional ICU beds and a 16 bed General Medical Unit. There are 24hr diagnostic services and excellent support from Mental Health, ICU and community/aged care services and nursing staff. Sutherland Hospital provides a 24/7 Interventional Cardiology service. Inpatient services include most subspecialties; General Surgery, Orthopaedics, ENT, Urology, Vascular Surgery, Cardiology, Respiratory, Gastroenterology, Neurology, Oncology, Renal, Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Aged Care, Rehabilitation and Mental Health.
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
- Completion of at least 4 years full time equivalent post-graduate years.
- A demonstrated vocational interest in clinical infectious diseases.
- A professional attitude and flexibility, with a preparedness and ability to participate in after-hours overtime and on-call rosters.
- Demonstrates ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgement and expertise.
- Demonstrated effective communication, interpersonal and time management skills and demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

- The Haematology Unit has a large outpatient and Inpatient commitment.
- The haematology lab and blood bank performs on-site routine general haematology investigations including bone marrow morphology and flow cytometry.
Essential requirements
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Applicants who have completed at least four postgraduate years and have completed or intend to complete the examination requirements of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians may be considered
- International Medical graduates must provide documentation of Australian Medical Council assessment and a report from the relevant College (RCPA or RACP) outlining their training and exam requirements.
- This position is subject to an appropriate supervision level which can be supported by the health agency. If the incumbent's registration conditions include supervision requirements, the level of supervision must be able to be supported by the health agency for this role.
- Valid Working with Children Check.
- Cleared National Police Check.
- Aged Care Check for Australian Government funded positions.
- To be employed by NSW Health you are required to provide evidence of vaccination to comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy, this includes any amendments made from time to time.
Selection criteria
- Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role.
- Demonstrated interest in Haematology with at least 4 years of post-graduate experience.

As the Medical Education Officer (WBA) you will support the planning, management and implementation of the Australian Medical Council (AMC) Workplace Based Assessment (WBA) Program for International Medical Graduates (IMGs).
In this rewarding role, you will coordinate and continuously enhance the Workplace Based Assessment (WBA) Program, supporting International Medical Graduates (IMGs) throughout their assessment journey while ensuring a positive, well-structured and supportive experience. Working closely with licensing authorities, Medical Administration, workforce and rostering teams, you will oversee assessment planning, provide guidance on performance and progression, and offer mentoring and career support to help candidates successfully navigate the pathway to registration and ongoing clinical practice.
You will build strong relationships with Heads of Department, senior medical staff, assessors and key external stakeholders to ensure the ongoing quality, effectiveness and accreditation of the program. By supporting and developing assessors, monitoring program outcomes and preparing accreditation reporting, you will play a key role in maintaining compliance, driving continuous improvement and creating a supportive learning environment that helps IMGs thrive both professionally and personally.
This position is being offered on a permanent part-time basis at 0.5 FTE (38 hours per fortnight)
You will have previous experience in a similar role, providing support to Junior Medical Officers (JMOs) in a health care setting and you will be able to demonstrate experience in the monitoring of training programs and feedback evaluation.
You will have a strong understanding of education and training program development within a healthcare setting, together with comprehensive knowledge of the requirements and accreditation standards of the Australian Medical Council (AMC), the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) and the Postgraduate Medical Council of Western Australia (PMCWA). Your ability to apply this knowledge in practice will enable you to support high-quality assessment, education and professional development outcomes for International Medical Graduates (IMGs).

What do we need from you?

- A recognised degree in Social Work and eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.

To thrive in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated competency in mental state & risk assessment and the ability to priorities workload.
- Works as a member of the multi-disciplinary team.
- 12 months experience in an acute role
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work autonomously and function optimally within a multi-disciplinary team
- Ability to document and search appropriate data bases.
- Drivers license
You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:
- A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.
- Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.
