Where You'll Be Working
Liverpool Hospital, founded in 1813, is the major health service for south-western Sydney, providing services to the local government area of Liverpool City Council as well as district services to residents and visitors in the area. It also provides a range of state-wide services in areas such as critical care and trauma, neonatal intensive care and brain injury rehabilitation.
The Hospital provides a health service of international standing, with 23 operating theatres, capacity for 877 beds, diagnostic and imaging services, emergency and trauma care, maternity, paediatric, cancer care, mental health, ambulatory care, allied health and medical and surgical services from birth to aged care.
Liverpool Hospital is currently undergoing a major redevelopment. The $790 million Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct (LHAP) project will provide enhanced facilities and an increased capacity to meet future significant population growth for South Western Sydney.
Liverpool Hospital is a principal referral and teaching Hospital of the University of NSW and the Western Sydney University and also welcome students from over 20 universities and colleges.
Located in the heart of Liverpool City, the hospital is close to public transport, shopping centres and eateries.
What you'll be doing
To participate in teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff, to participate in continuing medical education (CME) and quality assurance (QA) programs.

- MBBS or equivalent, current general registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Current registration or eligible for registration with the College of Intensive Care Medicine, eligible for registration as a Transition Year Fellow including successful completion of a Fellowship examination.
- Demonstrated current clinical practice of a high standard and ability to adapt clinical practice in accordance with contemporary evidence based best practice.

Where you'll be working
Wagga Wagga Base Hospital (WWBH) is one of the busiest rural hospitals in NSW and has
recently been transformed by a $431million redevelopment. It was delivered in three stages and completed in 2021. The health campus includes:
- a referral hospital called Wagga Wagga Base Hospital. Opened in 2017, it supports over 40,000 emergency presentations, 1,100 births and approximately 11,000 operations each year.
- a 24-hour Emergency Department equipped with telehealth cameras to connect the team in Wagga Wagga with other specialists or GPs across the state through the Critical Care Advisory Service, ensuring you get the care you need.
- a purpose-built Health Services Hub which opened in 2021. The new facility, linked to the Wagga Wagga Base Hospital, offers a range of important services from a single site. The multi-storey building accommodates acute aged care inpatient beds, rehabilitation inpatient beds, an older person's mental inpatient unit, Hospital in the Home, expanded renal dialysis unit, expanded oral (dental) service, 60 clinic rooms and treatment spaces for allied health, outpatient, and community health services. There is also a Staff Hub and 30 staff meeting rooms of varying sizes with an electronic booking system and the latest presentation technology; a new lecture theatre and two nearby conference rooms, new clinical education and training spaces, including a simulation room and skills area and facilities for virtual training; a library, a dedicated Aboriginal meeting room and cultural courtyard; cafe; new multi-faith space; and facilities for corporate volunteers. There is also secure parking for fleet vehicles under the Health Services Hub.
- a specialised Mental Health Unit, which opened in 2013, to provide a large modern and comfortable facility. Community mental health services are co-located on the campus in the new Health Services Hub.
Wagga Wagga Health Service provides services including critical care, medical, surgical, paediatric, obstetric, and rehabilitation care. We also provide mental health and community health services. We work with a team of specialists which include cardiovascular, gastroenterology, renal medicine, obstetrics, orthopaedics, psychiatry, and paediatrics. There is also the provision of a full range of allied health and support services such as oral health, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, sexual health and violence prevention and response services.
Location
Wagga Wagga is the largest regional city in NSW with an urban population of around 67,000 residents, nestled on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River.
Located midway between Sydney and Melbourne, Wagga Wagga was recently recognised as being one of the ‘top family’ friendly cities in Australia, and is the hub of the Riverina.
Wagga Wagga offers a myriad of activities to enjoy, including a wonderful selection of restaurants, cafes, markets and wineries, galleries, and museums. It has terrific gardens and recreational areas and caters to both the cultural and sporting enthusiasts.
There are extensive education options from early childhood through to tertiary, including public and private primary and secondary schools, the TAFE NSW Riverina Institute, Charles Sturt University, The University of NSW Rural Clinical School, and The University of Notre Dame – Rural Clinical School.
Wagga Wagga is only a 60 min flight from Sydney or Melbourne and 3.5hr drive to Thredbo Village.
This position is appropriate for medical officers (at the commencement of the position PGY 4 and above) who are interested in training in intensive care medicine. The position is suitable for advanced trainees of the College of Intensive Care Medicine (CICM). The clinical role allocated to the advanced trainee may vary depending on the experience and seniority of the advanced trainee and operational requirements of the ICU.
The purpose of the position is to provide effective clinical management and excellent care to critically ill patients under the direct or indirect supervision of an Intensive Care Specialist. Trainees will be expected to develop expertise in medical practice in a complex clinical environment, and to participate in the core training program of the College of Intensive Care Medicine.
Under the supervision of intensive care consultants, advanced trainees may lead a team of junior medical officers inside ICU and on outreach service. During night shifts advanced trainees may be the most senior ICU medical staff on-site.
Wagga Wagga ICU is a Level 2 Intensive Care unit that serves a large catchment area within Murrumbidgee local health district (MLHD). The unit treats over 700 patients each year with > 23% ventilated patients and has 12 physical beds. The unit offers exposure to a broad range of high acuity intensive care patients, supported by other specialties including cardiology with active 24 hours Cath lab, Renal with its own dialysis unit, Respiratory, Endocrine, Neurology, Haematology and Oncology, Interventional radiology, Upper GI, Vascular, Otho and Colorectal surgery. The department places an emphasis on innovation, diversity and a culture of inclusivity.
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia
- Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role
- Completion of three (3) years post graduate experience at commencement of position, with a minimum of one year work experience in an ICU. Completion of CICM primary exam or equivalent.
- Clinical experience, cognitive skills, and basic technical skills appropriate for managing critically ill patients independently within a supervised complex clinical environment.
- Demonstrated time management and problem-solving skills in the clinical setting.
- Demonstrated verbal, written and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to vary communication style in line with the understanding of the needs of diverse audiences.
- Evidence of continued professional development and commitment to self-education, quality improvement, patient safety, and risk management.
- Demonstrated career goal to undertake further training in intensive care medicine or other critical care specialities.

What you'll be doing
The Unaccredited Trainee in Obstetrics & Gynaecology will provide first-line medical care to patients presenting to the Obstetrics & Gynaecology Department, including assessment, investigation, treatment and referral for ongoing noninpatient care or, on consultation with consultant specialists, admission/transfer for inpatient care. Provision of evidence-based and quality clinical care of individual patients in all domains of medical practice:
- Patient interview
- Clinical examination
- Identify of clinical problems and health opportunities.
- Plan of overall clinical care and health promotion.
- Maintain of concise but comprehensive, accurate, legible records of patient stats, progress notes and associated correspondence.
- Manage the administrative requirements of patient care including ensuring the discharge summary and medico-legal correspondence is completed with minimal delay.
- Participate in the roster including after hours and weekend cover as required.
- Participation in educational activities.
- Act in accordance with the Local Health District Values Charter and the NSW Health Code of Conduct.
Where you'll be working
The Wagga Wagga Health Service has undergone a $431 million redevelopment. It was delivered in three stages and completed in 2021. The health campus includes:
- a 325 bed referral hospital called Wagga Wagga Base Hospital. Opened in 2017, it supports over 40,000 emergency presentations, 1,100 births and approximately 11,000 operations each year.
- a 24 hour Emergency Department equipped with telehealth cameras to connect the team in Wagga Wagga with other specialists or GPs across the state through the Critical Care Advisory Service, ensuring you get the care you need.
- a purpose-built Health Services Hub which opened in 2021. The new facility, linked to the Wagga Wagga Base Hospital, offers a range of important services from a single site.The multi-storey building accommodates acute aged care inpatient beds, rehabilitation inpatient beds, an older person's mental inpatient unit, Hospital in the Home, expanded renal dialysis unit, expanded oral (dental) service, 60 clinic rooms and treatment spaces for allied health, outpatient, and community health services. There is also a Staff Hub and 30 staff meeting rooms of varying sizes with an electronic booking system and the latest presentation technology; a new lecture theatre and two nearby conference rooms, new clinical education and training spaces, including a simulation room and skills area and facilities for virtual training; a library, a dedicated Aboriginal meeting room and cultural courtyard; cafe; new multi-faith space; and facilitiies for corporate volunteers. There is also secure parking for fleet vehicles under the Health Services Hub.
- a specialised Mental Health Unit, which opened in 2013, to provide a large modern and comfortable facility. Community mental health services are co-located on the campus in the new Health Services Hub. Wagga Wagga Health Service provides services including critical care, medical, surgical, paediatric, obstetric, and rehabilitation care. We also provide mental health and community health services. We work with a team of specialists which include cardiovascular, gastroenterology, renal medicine, obstetrics, orthopaedics, psychiatry and paediatrics. There is also the provision of a full range of allied health and support services such as oral health, physiotheraphy, occupational therapy, sexual health and violence prevention and response services.

- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia.

What you'll be doing
Provisional Fellow in Obstetric Medicine. This post is accredited for training for the achievement of an Obstetric Medicine Certificate. To provide effective medical services to women with high-risk pregnancies under consultant supervision pre, during and after pregnancy.
To develop expertise in the management of medical disorders complicating pregnancy and the investigation and management of high-risk obstetric complications in a tertiary referral center.
To participate in a training program to meet the requirements for a Certificate in Obstetric Medicine.
Participate in the after-hours roster as per requirements of the role.
Participate in the administrative and quality activities of the unit, and is expected to take a key role in education of medical students and junior staff. Undertake research in the field to at least ensure attainment of the Obs Med Certificate.

What you'll be doing
The primary purpose of the Trainee - Stage 1 in Emergency Medicine is to provide high quality medical care under appropriate supervision to undifferentiated patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
Trainees undertaking the care of medical patients should ensure that they operate within their own level of expertise within a collaborative clinical care model and to seek consultation with their colleagues when appropriate. Trainees work under a level of supervision according to their competence in the following activities:
- Taking a leadership role in coordinating the admission, assessment, management, and discharge planning of patients
- Have direct clinical involvement in the care of all patients, including the critically ill
- Providing clinical supervision to junior medical staff
- Providing overall medical management and support for the Emergency Department in conjunction with senior nursing staff
- Communicating assessment and management decisions to other staff involved in the patient's care
- Communicating with the patient / family regarding the patient's condition and management plans
- Coordinating diagnostic tests and consultations with other medical specialists
- Arranging the patient discharge process and liaising with local medical officers and community based care modalities for optimal post discharge care

The Provisional Trainee will be required to participate in a 24/7 roster and may be rostered to day, evening and night shifts across a seven day roster. What you'll be doing
St Vincent's Hospital Sydney Emergency Department is a high-acuity tertiary referral service seeing approximately 51,000 presentations each year. Around 46% of patients presenting to the department are admitted, accounting for approximately half of all hospital admissions. The department manages a broad range of presentations across all areas of emergency medicine and provides care to a complex and diverse patient population. St Vincent’s is a designated trauma centre and provides advanced tertiary services including ECMO.
Emergency medicine at St Vincent’s is varied, fast paced and clinically rewarding. Patients present with a wide range of medical, surgical and psychosocial needs, reflecting the diversity and complexity of the communities we serve. The department is often busy, and trainees are supported to develop strong clinical skills while maintaining a commitment to patient privacy, dignity and high-quality care.
The department is committed to equitable care, including through the FLEXI Clinic, which supports improved access and outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients. St Vincent’s provides all major adult specialty services on site, with the exception of paediatrics and obstetrics. Patients requiring paediatric or obstetric care who present to the department are assessed, stabilised and transferred to the most appropriate service when required.
TERMS:
TS1 trainees undertake a broad range of rotations within St Vincent’s, including Emergency, Anaesthetics, Intensive Care, Drug and Alcohol, and our PANDA unit (Psychiatric and Non-prescription Drug and Alcohol). These terms provide broad clinical exposure and a strong foundation across core emergency medicine and related specialties.
Additional secondment opportunities are available across a range of network and affiliated sites, including Sutherland Hospital, Sydney Children's Hospital, Canterbury Hospital, and Northern Beaches Hospital.
As trainees progress, there are opportunities to pursue areas of interest including simulation, ultrasound, research, medical education and rural emergency medicine through tailored rotations and secondments.
EDUCATION and WELL-BEING:
The department provides a comprehensive Primary Examination preparation program and structured educational support throughout training. All teaching is aligned with Australasian College for Emergency Medicine requirements and is supported by experienced FACEM supervisors.

Advance Trainee – Emergency Medicine
A position is currently available for an Advance Trainee in Emergency Medicine at Dubbo Health Service.
The Emergency Department at Dubbo Health Service is an accredited training site for the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine (ACEM), and the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM).
Since 2022 the Dubbo Emergency Department has been able to offer:

The Emergency Department at Dubbo Health Service is an accredited training site for the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine (ACEM), and the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM).

South East Regional Hospital (SERH) is a newly built, architecturally designed hospital in Bega with expansive views of the Bega Valley. It is 429 kilometres South of Sydney, 228 kilometres from Canberra or 174 kilometres from the NSW snow fields. South East Regional Hospital is the regional referral centre for the expansive south coast regions from Bateman's Bay to Cooma and down past the Victorian border to Mallacoota. The state of the art hospital is equipped with 3 operating theatres, ICU, 5 inpatient wards and outpatient services. There is also a dedicated office for the Orthopaedic registrars as well as a shared JMO lounge. Rural unaccredited trainees will also be eligible to apply for scholarships through HETI to help with attending courses and conferences. Fully furnished shared accommodation is usually provided to trainee's by the hospital.
What you'll be doing
The Orthopaedic SRMO is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Orthopaedic inpatients, providing an on-call service for SERH plus 3 surrounding hospitals within the health district. There is a good mix of elective and emergency operating with approximately 1200 operations performed annually. The SRMO will be responsible for the supervision of the resident medical officer as well as rotating medical students from the ANU Medical School.
The Orthopaedic Department is staffed by 2 unaccredited trainee registrars and 1 AOA accredited trainee registrar with a regular 1 in 4 on-call rosters with occasional 1 in 3 on-calls during periods of leave. The well-supported unit allows unaccredited trainees to gain a well-rounded experience in Orthopaedics. The job allows trainees/SRMOs to rotate daily through being on-call, managing acute orthopaedic emergencies, elective and emergency operating lists and outpatient clinics. There are a wide range of educational activities on offer including regular journal clubs, weekly X-ray meetings, teaching, quarterly Morbidity and Mortality meetings and the opportunity to take on research projects. This position would suit both an experienced trainee looking to hone their operative skills with a view to apply for the AOA Training Program or a junior trainee looking for a well-balanced introduction into Orthopaedic Surgery.

The Unaccredited Trainee will medically manage conditions such as acute and chronic coronary disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease including endocarditis, and hypertension, with initial management of arrhythmias and pericardial disease, basic adult congenital heart disease and pulmonary hypertension, and prevention of heart disease; and undertake supervised general medical management of patients admitted to the Cardiology department.
The Unaccredited Trainee will undertake dedicated terms for procedures including coronary angiography, echocardiography, electrophysiology and other procedural and clinical aspects relevant to Cardiology. Networked positions may include rural, regional or outer metropolitan rotations.
