Our 307-bed public hospital is operated under a public-private partnership between the State Government and St John of God Health Care.
Your Role at St John of God Midland Public Hospital
As a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality clinical services and shaping the future of women's health within a collaborative and highly regarded senior medical team, dedicated to providing exceptional care to women and families across the Midland, Swan Valley and Wheatbelt communities. This is an outstanding opportunity to contribute to a supportive environment committed to clinical excellence, innovation and compassionate, patient-centred care.
To be successful in this position, you will hold Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG) or equivalent. Applicants who are expected to achieve their FRANZCOG qualification within the next 4 to 6 months are also welcome to apply.
The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate the ability to lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams effectively, with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care at both an individual and service level. The successful candidate will actively participate in departmental rosters and on-call duties and provide clinical services as required.
It is expected that the candidate maintain currency in fetal surveillance through successful completion of an accredited face-to-face CTG course (such as FSEP or equivalent), as well as an emergency obstetric management course (such as PROMPT, MOET or equivalent) every three years, supported through professional development leave and funding entitlements.

Primary day to day accountabilities for this organisationally critical appointment include:
- Provide executive leadership for organisation-wide quality, safety and continuous improvement.

As Executive Director Quality & Improvement you will ensure the organisation maintains robust governance systems, achieves accreditation and regulatory requirements, and responds effectively to emerging healthcare challenges and system priorities.
About You

- You can demonstrate highly developed interpersonal, communication skills, including sound oral and writing skills that allow for effective communication with residents, visitors and staff at all levels.

Our multidisciplinary team is committed to delivering person-centred care that promotes dignity, independence, wellbeing, and positive health outcomes for older people throughout their hospital journey.
Shoalhaven Memorial Hospital is the main referral hospital for the Shoalhaven region, providing emergency care, medical, surgical, mental health and orthopaedic services. The hospital has an Intensive Care Unit focusing on ventilated, high dependency and coronary patients, Children’s Ward and Maternity Unit, as well as a purpose-built regional Cancer Care Centre.

About the opportunity:
Team Maternity Care is seeking enthusiastic and motivated registered midwives to join our collaborative model of care to provide exceptional clinical service throughout the maternity continuum.
You will have the opportunity to work across a variety of specialties including birthing services unit, antenatal/postnatal floor, Outpatients Department, and Mercy at Home.
- Maintain a work-life balance working a flexible rotating roster.
- Opportunities to work across the scope of Midwifery practice – develop the skills to be a well-rounded midwife!
- Ongoing professional development opportunities with dedicated educational resources in a supportive environment.
About you:
- Current unrestricted AHPRA registration as a Registered Midwife.
- Ability to work across the childbirth continuum.
- Committed to ongoing professional development.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with different maternity teams.
You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:
- A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.
- Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.
