About the Role:
Join SA Health's Northern Adelaide Local Health Network as a Social Worker in our Casual Pool for 2026-2027 with potential to move to contracted hours of work. Based at Lyell McEwin and Modbury Public Hospitals, you will provide essential social work 7-day rostered services across various clinical departments, supporting patients and families during challenging times, including Domestic, Family Violence, Child Protection, Elder Abuse, High Risk Pregnancy assessments. This casual position offers flexibility while contributing to South Australia's premier public health system.
What You'll Do
- Conduct brief crisis comprehensive bio psychosocial assessments and develop intervention plans
- Write professional reports and discharge plans
- Provide brief crisis counselling and support services to patients and their families
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic timely safe patient care
- Facilitate discharge planning and community service referrals
- Maintain accurate documentation and case records
What We're Looking For
- Experience in healthcare or hospital settings preferred
- Strong critical thinking and problem solving, clear communication, writing and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under instruction but also independently and manage competing priorities
- Be willing to follow infection control procedures including being Bare Below the Elbows on the hospital wards.
To be eligible for this position, you must hold an appropriate degree or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.

In this role you will have strong interpersonal and communication skills which will enable you to successfully problem solve, resolve conflicts and negotiate, including the ability to engage in difficult conversations, whilst building and maintaining relationships. An ability to effectively manage multiple, diverse and competing priorities and demonstrated resilience within a stressful and complex environment is essential to this role.

Lyell McEwin Hospital – The major hospital in the north and north-east for emergency care, complex and multi-day surgery, medicine, obstetrics, paediatrics and outpatient services.
Modbury Hospital – A general hospital with emergency care, elective surgery, medicine, outpatient and sub-acute services, rehabilitation, geriatric and palliative care.
Mental Health - The Division of Mental Health provides a comprehensive range of public mental health services for youth, adults and older people in northern Adelaide. Services are provided through community health centres and hospitals, and to consumers in their own homes.
Forensic Mental Health - A statewide service that operates as part of the Division of Mental Health for forensic patients and prisoners.
Community Sites - Elizabeth GP Plus, Modbury GP Plus and Gilles Plains GP Plus Super Clinics providing community based care.

In these roles, you will be responsible for the timely and accurate translation of clinical documentation into ICD-10-AM (current edition), ensuring coded data is suitable for statistical analysis, epidemiology, hospital planning, research, and quality assurance. A key outcome of your work is the accurate assignment of Australian Refined Diagnosis Related Groups (AR-DRGs), which directly underpin Activity Based Funding (ABF) and inform organisational decision-making.
As a Clinical Coder (Level 2), you will apply your coding expertise to a broad range of clinical cases while contributing to team capability through mentoring and knowledge sharing.
As an Advanced Clinical Coder (Level 3), you will take the lead on complex and specialised cases, working closely with clinicians to clarify documentation and ensure coding accuracy at the highest level. In both roles, you will play an integral part in maintaining coding quality standards and supporting continuous improvement across the service.
You will report to the Manager Coding Services, working both independently and collaboratively within a professional and supportive team environment that values accuracy, accountability, and ongoing development.
To be eligible for this position as a Clinical Coder (Level 2) ASO4 classification, you must successful completion of a recognised HLT50321 Diploma of Clinical Coding course in ICD-10-AM (current edition) or equivalent, together with demonstrated competency in ICD-10-AM coding; or International Transition to ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS.
To be eligible for this position as an Advanced Clinical Coder (Level 3) ASO5 classification, successful completion of the HLT50321 Diploma of Clinical Coding Course in ICD-10-AM or equivalent, together with demonstrated advanced competency in ICD-10-AM (current edition) coding as determined by Manager.

Overview
SA Health is seeking compassionate and reliable Casual Direct Care Workers – Residential to join the team at Cleve MPS. In this role, you will support residents of the Residential Care Home with daily care, comfort, dignity, and wellbeing as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team.
About the role
You will provide direct care to residents in a residential aged care setting, helping with personal care, mobility, hygiene, grooming, toileting, laundry, environment care, and other day-to-day support tasks. The role also involves completing routine documentation, contributing observations, assisting with diversional therapy, and supporting safe, person-centred care.
Key duties
- Deliver respectful, compassionate care to residents in line with their individual needs.
- Assist with personal care tasks including bathing, grooming, toileting, mobility support, and transfer assistance.
- Support residents with communication aids, hearing aids, glasses, laundry, and maintaining a clean and safe environment.
- Assist with routine treatments, self-administration of medication under direction, and general resident support.
- Complete documentation, record observations, and contribute to resident assessment and care planning.
- Work effectively within a team and maintain confidentiality and professional standards.
What we’re looking for
- Experience providing direct care in a health, aged care, disability, or similar setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well in a team.
- Ability to work under supervision, use initiative, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
Desirable
- Current First Aid certificate.
- Knowledge of aged care standards and aged care-related issues.

Overview
SA Health is seeking compassionate and reliable Casual Direct Care Workers – Residential to join the team at Cowell MPS. In this role, you will support residents of the Residential Care Home with daily care, comfort, dignity, and wellbeing as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team.
About the role
You will provide direct care to residents in a residential aged care setting, helping with personal care, mobility, hygiene, grooming, toileting, laundry, environment care, and other day-to-day support tasks. The role also involves completing routine documentation, contributing observations, assisting with diversional therapy, and supporting safe, person-centred care.
Key duties
- Deliver respectful, compassionate care to residents in line with their individual needs.
- Assist with personal care tasks including bathing, grooming, toileting, mobility support, and transfer assistance.
- Support residents with communication aids, hearing aids, glasses, laundry, and maintaining a clean and safe environment.
- Assist with routine treatments, self-administration of medication under direction, and general resident support.
- Complete documentation, record observations, and contribute to resident assessment and care planning.
- Work effectively within a team and maintain confidentiality and professional standards.
What we’re looking for
- Experience providing direct care in a health, aged care, disability, or similar setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well in a team.
- Ability to work under supervision, use initiative, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.

- Current First Aid certificate.
- Knowledge of aged care standards and aged care-related issues.

We are excited to be able to offer Consultant posts within the newly developed division of Emergency and Acute Medical services at YNLHN. Although the working environment has improved over the last year, there is still plenty to do to improve our processes. If you feel enthused about utilising your skills by joining a forward looking and moving clinical service, this may be the job for you!
We are looking for applicants who will be keen to make a real difference to patient care by providing clinical leadership, training and supporting clinical governance.
The region has a fledgling GP training scheme that we wish to expand in the next few years. Recently, there has been a significant investment in junior staffing across both Port Pirie and Wallaroo hospitals that have contributed positively to the working environment, leading to increased clinical safety and efficiency.
There are Consultant posts available at Wallaroo Emergency Department and Port Pirie Emergency Department. Both departments have seen a 10% increase in attendances over the last year All applicants must have attained a post-graduate qualification or be within six months of attaining this. Doctors who have attained FACEM, FRACGP and FACRRM are welcome to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide clinical services to the highest standard with limited supervision, exercising professional judgement and advanced clinical competence.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the emergency department efficiently and safely.
- Respond to MET/Code Blue/Code Black calls as required during shifts.
- Supervise, train, and provide guidance to junior medical staff and allied health professionals.
- Participate in teaching, quality assurance, continuous improvement, health promotion, and community education activities.
- Contribute to Continuous Quality Improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and departmental performance.
What We’re Looking For:
We’re seeking a dedicated and experienced medical practitioner who holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent, with appropriate specialist qualifications such as FACEM, FACRRM, or FRACGP. Ideally looking for a 0.5 to 1.0 full time equivalent commitment, however all applications will be considered. You must be registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration, or hold an equivalent qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award. The successful applicant will demonstrate the ability to work independently, lead clinical teams, and deliver high-quality emergency care in a multidisciplinary setting.
