The Mental Health in Primary Schools initiative is being expanded to every government and low-fee non-government primary school in Victoria. Scaling up across the state from 2023, by 2026 every primary school will be able to employ a Mental Health and Wellbeing Leader to implement a whole-school approach to wellbeing.
The Department of Education has been piloting the Mental Health in Primary Schools initiative in Victorian schools since 2020 in partnership with the Murdoch Children's Research Institute and the Faculty of Education at the University of Melbourne. Evaluation of this pilot initiative has shown that 95 per cent of Mental Health and Wellbeing Leaders consider the Mental Health in Primary Schools model has improved their school's capacity to support students' mentalhealth and wellbeing needs.
Participating schools receive funding to employ a Mental Health and Wellbeing Leader, a qualified teacher, to work across the school to implement a whole-school approach to mental health and wellbeing for students, staff and families based on a broad knowledge of the needs of the school community.
The role of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Leader is to:
- build capability of the whole school with regard to mental health and wellbeing (identification, promotion and prevention),
- provide support to staff to better identify and support students with mental health needs,
- establish clear pathways for referral for students requiring assessment and intervention, and monitor and evaluate student progress.
The Mental Health and Wellbeing Leader role is not a clinical role and is not designed for direct intervention. The role is seen as a key conduit in creating referral pathways once a teacher or other staff member identifies a concern in the classroom.
Mental Health and Wellbeing Leaders are provided training in mental health literacy, supporting emerging needs, and building school capacity and receive ongoing support and professional development through structured and regular Learning Communities Training is developed and facilitated by the Faculty of Education at University of Melbourne, supported by Murdoch Children's Research Institute.
Responsibilities Operating in collaboration with their school, leadership and wellbeing team where relevant, the Mental Health and Wellbeing Leader will:
- Promote a whole school approach to mental health and wellbeing to students, staff and families
- Support teachers and school staff to expand their capacity to embed evidence-based mental health strategies, interventions and programs and build mental health literacy to identify and support primary school students with mental health concerns.

We're on a mission to make good health last a lifetime. More than 1 billion people live with obesity worldwide, driving preventable chronic conditions. We're here to build better long-term care.
Eucalyptus is now part of Hims & Hers, the global leader in personalised health and wellness.
Euc is the company behind Juniper, one of the world's largest weight-management programs combining GLP-1 medication with personalised nutrition, movement support, and clinician-led care from prescribers, nurses, health coaches, pharmacists, and dietitians. Our published clinical research shows that our combined clinical and behavioural approach helps patients lose significantly more weight during their treatment with Juniper by four times.
Our Growth Story:- Supporting patients living with obesity across our 5 markets
- Received selective NICE endorsement to provide services to the NHS
- Tailored our offering to thousands of patients in Australia, the UK, Germany, Japan and Canada.
We're looking for a Growth Manager who thinks about patient acquisition the way a GM thinks about a business. You'll own Hers' growth marketing strategy - from channel investment and budget allocation through to the customer insights and creative ideas that drive it.
This isn't a campaign execution role. You'll be setting the strategic direction: understanding who our patients are and why they come to Hers, turning that insight into high-performing creative and messaging, and making smart commercial trade-offs to grow efficiently. You'll work cross-functionally with creative, clinical, analytics, and product teams across Sydney and the UK.
- Own Hers' patient acquisition strategy end-to-end - from channel mix and budget allocation through to the messaging hypotheses that drive it
- Use customer research, patient insight, and performance data to build strategies that attract the right patients at the right cost
- Balance CAC and LTV trade-offs - understanding the difference between patients who stay engaged in their treatment and those who don't, and using that to inform acquisition decisions
- Build and maintain a rigorous test-and-learn framework across channels, creative formats, and audience segmentsli>
- Partner closely with our creative team to develop concepts grounded in real patient insight - you understand why creative works, not just whether it does
- Identify the highest-leverage opportunities across paid channels (Meta, Google, YouTube, TikTok) and funnel experience
- Work cross-functionally with analytics, product, and clinical to make sure growth is connected to the full patient experience
- Communicate a clear, evidence-based point of view on performance and strategy to senior stakeholders
- 5+ years in growth or performance marketing, with genuine ownership of commercial acquisition outcomes
- You've built a growth strategy from scratch - you know what to prioritise and why, not just how to execute what you're given
- Comfortable moving between qualitative customer insight and quantitative performance data to form a clear strategic view
- Strong understanding of creative as a commercial lever - you can brief it, evaluate it, and iterate in partnership with a creative team
- Commercial instinct: you understand CAC/LTV dynamics and can make budget investment decisions with confidence
- Hands-on experience across paid channels - but you lead with strategy and insight, not platform mechanics
- Strong communicator and natural cross-functional partner - you influence product, analytics, creative, and clinical without needing direct authority
- Thrives setting their own agenda in a fast-moving environment
Euc is also behind a growing family of digital healthcare clinics ( Pilot, Kin , Software , Compound ) across men's health and well-being, fertility, skincare, and preventative health.
Here's what makes joining Euc unique:
- What's next - Our goal for the next three years is to support 1 million patients globally to live better for longer. We're launching into new conditions, demographics, and geographies as we build a truly preventive healthcare ecosystem.
- Build something world-changing - We're on the path to becoming the world's largest international digital healthcare company. It will be challenging, fast-paced, and deeply rewarding.
- Make real impact - You will deliver work that directly shapes patient outcomes and scales evidence-based care across markets.
- Accelerate your growth - You will have high ownership, continuous feedback, and dedicated development support.
- Join a motivated team - You will collaborate with talented peers to solve complex clinical and operational problems at scale.
- Grow with us globally - Get mentorship from leaders across Australia, the UK, Germany, and Japan, collaborate with teams in the Philippines and South Africa, and explore new markets or travel internationally. Recognised on Hatch's Hotlist as one of Australia's top employers, we support early-career professionals to become future global leaders.
- Shape your career - Access learning budgets, conferences, certifications, peer shadowing, and a global knowledge-sharing culture.
- Work where well-being matters - Experience catered wellness talks, exercise classes, free barista coffees, funded social clubs, and quarterly rooftop parties.
- Innovate with purpose - Use state-of-the-art tools and contribute to bold, impactful solutions in healthcare.
- Support at every stage - Benefit from parental and miscarriage leave, health, professional development, and personal days, and our Employee Assistance Program.
At Eucalyptus, we value individuals from all backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives, and we embrace the unique qualities each person brings. When you apply, please let us know of any reasonable adjustments you may need during the interview process. We use AI-assisted tools across our business to help our teams work more efficiently, including within our recruitment process.
