Monash Children's Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
Make an impact where it matters most
Monash Children’s Hospital PICU is one of Australia’s newest tertiary paediatric intensive care units — a dynamic, growing team dedicated to caring for critically ill children and their families.
We’re led by passionate PICU consultants, an energetic nursing team and committed allied health professionals who support each other, lead with kindness and bring their best every day.
If purpose, teamwork and high-impact admin work energise you, this role puts you right at the centre of it all.
What you’ll actually do
As the PA to the Head of Paediatric Intensive Care, you’re the operational hub of the unit. You’ll provide high-level executive support to the unit head and senior medical staff — coordinating meetings, managing complex calendars, handling correspondence, solving roster challenges and jumping in during staffing emergencies.
You’ll also run end-to-end administration for the unit’s education and course programs (internal and external). You’ll work alongside people who aim high in a genuinely friendly, supportive environment.
Who thrives here
You’re someone who cares about the “why.” You want your work to mean something beyond the task list.
You’re kind, value diverse ideas, and enjoy being part of a team that has each other’s backs. You’re a strong multi-tasker who holds high standards, takes initiative, manages your own day and is always ready to grow the role. You’re supportive of others and equally comfortable receiving support.
What we’re looking for
- Strong administrative experience supporting senior leaders or managers in a PA/EA capacity
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment with a flexible, can-do attitude plus strong organisation, communication and time-management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Advanced MS Office skills (SharePoint experience is a plus)
- Honesty, hard work and strict respect for confidentiality
- Comfort with shifting priorities while staying focused on what matters
What you’ll get in return
You’ll join a vibrant, friendly and supportive team that invests in proper onboarding and genuinely celebrates your growth.
As part of Victoria’s largest health service you’ll also receive:
- Access to Monash Health learning portals to build new skills
- Opportunities to develop leadership and project management capabilities
- Mentorship and career guidance
- Support to attend relevant forums and conferences
- Accrued day off every four weeks (for full-time staff)
- Salary packaging to boost take-home pay
- Onsite subsidised staff car parking and gym
- Uniform and a comprehensive Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
Why join us?
You’ll step into a vibrant, supportive team that genuinely cares about your growth. We take time to onboard you properly, celebrate your wins, and give you real opportunities to expand your skills through learning portals, mentorship, leadership development and conference support. Add salary packaging, an accrued day off every four weeks, subsidised parking and gym access, plus a full EAP — and you’re part of Victoria’s largest health service, making a difference for kids and families every day.
