About the Physiotherapy department
As a Grade 2 ICU Physiotherapist, you will be responsible for the safe and effective management of a clinical caseload across the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and ICU Outreach Service, providing expert physiotherapy support to patients with complex and acute presentations.
The position is involved in developing and applying advanced clinical expertise in critical care, acute deterioration, early rehabilitation, respiratory management, and complex patient care. The role also provides supervision, guidance, and support to Grade 1 physiotherapists, Allied Health Assistants, and undergraduate physiotherapy students, while working collaboratively with Grade 3 and Grade 4 physiotherapy staff within the ADV stream.
The role requires flexibility within the Acute and Deteriorating VRSS (ADV) stream, including regular weekend work, to support a seven-day physiotherapy service for ICU patients.
A regular day will see you:
- Provide high-quality, evidence-based physiotherapy assessment and intervention to patients in ICUand acutewardsettings
- Prioritise and manage clinical workloads in fast-pacedcritical careenvironments
- Providetimely,accuratedocumentation and comprehensive clinical handover
- Communicate effectively with medical, nursing, allied health staff, patients, families, and carers
- Act as a clinical resource within the multidisciplinary team
About you
To be successful in this role you'll bring with you:
- Current registration as a Physiotherapist with AHPRA
- Significant clinical experience in the physiotherapy management of ICU and/or acutelydeteriorating patients
- Experience with complex patient populations including respiratory, neuromuscular, neurological, high-risk surgical and medically complex patients

The Austin Plastics department is comprised of over 20 surgeons and junior medical staff including: clinical Fellows; 2 accredited Registrars; 2 non-accredited Registrars; and Residents across 2 campuses.
A consultative Plastics service is provided to other Units across all campuses. In addition, outpatient clinics provide new, review, post-operative and post-fracture assessment and management to some 16,000 patients per annum.
About the roleThe Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeons are expected to provide high level surgical services within their approved scope of clinical practice. As all Surgeons are expected to be able to provide routine surgical services and cover "on call" after hours, a minimum mandatory level of expertise and set of skills is necessary.
This is a senior Medical Position and carries with it the professional responsibilities of clinical leadership, teaching and training as well as some administrative requirements.

About the Emergency Department
The Austin Health Emergency Department cares for approximately 90,000 patients each year, including around 20% paediatric presentations. It is a large, state-of-the-art service providing assessment, treatment and admission pathways across a broad range of specialties.
The department is supported by a 24-bed Short Stay Unit, comprising adult, paediatric and mental health beds, delivering treatment and observation for patients expected to discharge within 24-48 hours.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
- Significant recent Emergency Nursing clinical experience.
- Relevant postgraduate qualification in Emergency Nursing, Critical Care Nursing or a related specialty.
- Previous experience in a formal education or clinical teaching role.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.
- A commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous professional development.
- A flexible, innovative and team-oriented approach to service delivery.
- Tertiary or vocational qualification in education or working towards one.
- Experience in Paediatric Emergency Nursing.
- Knowledge of clinical information systems and the Microsoft Office suite.

All Gynaecologists are expected to be able to provide specialist contraception and abortion care as well as having skills in general Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
This is a senior Medical Position and carries with it the professional responsibilities of clinical leadership, teaching and training as well as administrative requirements.
