At John Hunter Hospital, we're entering one of the most exciting periods in our history. With the opening of the new John Hunter Health and Innovation Precinct and Acute Services Building, we're expanding and transforming how we deliver care for our communities across Hunter New England.
We are seeking an exceptional Paediatric Emergency Medicine leader to join us as Medical Director Paediatric Emergency Medicine. As part of one of Australia's largest regional health infrastructure projects, we're expanding our emergency, critical care and inpatient services to meet the growing needs of our communities both now and into the future.
As Medical Director, you'll play a pivotal role in leading our Paediatric Emergency Department through this exciting period of growth, helping us develop contemporary models of care, strengthen service integration and enhance the experience of children, young people and families who turn to us for care.
About Our Paediatric Emergency Department
Our Paediatric Emergency Department is a vital part of John Hunter Hospital and John Hunter Children's Hospital - one of Australia's leading tertiary children's hospitals and the major referral centre for northern New South Wales.

Our clinicians care for a diverse and complex patient population, from common childhood illnesses and injuries through to major trauma, critical illness and highly specialised tertiary referrals.
Working closely with our inpatient paediatric services, dedicated Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), neonatal services, surgical specialties and ambulatory care teams, we are committed to delivering coordinated, seamless and family-centred care throughout every stage of a child's healthcare journey.
The Opportunity
As Medical Director, you will:
• Lead the strategic, clinical and operational direction of our Paediatric Emergency Department.
• Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement.
• Drive clinical governance, patient safety, quality improvement and risk management initiatives.
• Lead service planning and departmental performance, ensuring delivery against organisational objectives and key performance indicators.
