Job Description:
Supporting the leadership of a more connected future of care
St Vincent's has been a leader in Australia's health and aged care landscape for more than 165 years. Since our founders, the Sisters of Charity, opened our first hospital in 1857, our services and people have been behind some of Australia's most important medical breakthroughs. Today, as we expand care beyond hospital walls and create more connected models of care, St Vincent’s is helping shape a better, fairer health and aged care system.
We are looking for a special kind of person - a St Vincent’s kind of person. Someone who combines sharp thinking, good judgement and deep care for others.
The Opportunity
We are presently recruiting multiple Technical Field Engineer roles to bolster our existing, high performing NSW team, and in doing so, uplifting the overall capability of our business-critical National Service Management footprint.
These vacancies have come about through a combination of internal career development opportunities and temporary secondments, supporting business critical projects as St Vincent’s progresses through an exciting period of growth and technology transformation.
Consequently, we are currently offering a max-term contract until 26th of June 2027.
Key Responsibilities
As key members of our NSW Digital & Technology operations, you will provide first and second-level technical support for computer and telephony systems, software, and hardware issues, both remotely and on site across our Hospital and Aged Care network.
You will troubleshoot, monitor, and restore personal computers and devices connected to our network, whilst consistently delivering the highest levels of customer service; managing issues with efficiency, integrity and compassion.
Key day to day accountabilities include:
- Providing prompt and effective 1st and 2nd level support for all end-user IT hardware and software issues onsite and remotely
- Respond to faults involving Windows desktop operating systems, Office 365 applications, network connectivity, printer queues, and device drivers.
- Ensure equipment, stock, and spare parts are maintained and available at designated locations.
- Provide support and incident response for nurse call systems, telephony handsets, and meeting room AV equipment.
- Participate in the after-hours on-call roster (on call allowance and call out payments apply)
About You
As a dynamic and dedicated technology professional, you understand the critical role of IT operations within a multi-site healthcare environment such as St Vincent’s.
You are customer centric, driven by a desire to quickly resolve technology issues whilst constantly identifying opportunities to minimise future disruptions and outages. Furthermore, you thrive in complex environments, quickly identifying the issue and translating complexity into clear advice, decisions and action.
To be successful in these roles, it is anticipated you will possess:
- A Cert IV in Information Technology Support, or at a minimum, a Cert III in Information Technology Support complimented with significant experience in a similar role
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in Telecommunications, Desktop, Field Engineering or other relevant IT roles
- The ability to participate in our after-hours, on-call roster (mandatory for all Technical Field Engineers)
- A current, valid driver’s license with 24/7 access to a reliable car (vehicle usage allowance applies)
- Strong knowledge and skills in PC hardware and associated devices
- Good understanding and associated skills in networking
- Experience supporting AV systems, nurse call, telephony and comms room infrastructure
- Working knowledge of Cisco, VoIP, DECT and Analog Phone setup and configuration
Whilst not essential, previous exposure to healthcare operational environments will be highly regarded.
Why Join St Vincent’s?
At St Vincent’s, our people are inspired by a shared commitment to Compassion, Justice, Integrity and Excellence. We are building a better and fairer health and aged care system and believe our greatest strength lies in our people.
You will join an organisation that:
- Makes a meaningful difference in the lives of patients, residents and communities.
- Supports innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Encourages authentic leadership and inclusivity.
- Offers the opportunity to work alongside some of Australia's most respected healthcare and executive leaders.
- Provides flexibility and the chance to make a significant impact at an enterprise level.
Additionally, in exchange for your contributions, you will receive:
- A competitive base salary coupled with genuine work/life balance, a collaborative team environment and supportive leadership .
- ‘Not for profit’ salary sacrificing (reducing your taxable income by $15,990 per annum) .
- A wide range of additional salary packaging options including vehicle novated leasing and a Meals & Entertainment card (reducing your tax by a further $2,650 per annum) .
- Employee Assistance Program for team members and their families and free annual flu vaccination.
- Access to Fitness Passport discounted gym membership for team members and their families.
Above all this, St Vincent’s offers a supportive work environment and great community care spirit with the ability to visibly see your impact on the organisation and its services.
Pre-Employment Checks
Your employment is conditional upon the completion of all role-required pre-employment checks, including relevant immunisations.
Equal Opportunity
We celebrate diversity and inclusion and are committed to equal employment opportunity for everyone.
How To Apply
Please submit your application via the ‘Apply Now’ button, including your resume and a cover letter outlining your interest in the role.

For over a century, our incredible teams have provided care for people when they need it most. Our people feel great pride in this, and they value the security and stability we offer. But it also means so much opportunity - to build on all that’s gone before, to grow your impact and gain experience that’s hard to find elsewhere.
As a for-purpose organisation with over 10,000 dedicated, compassionate people, we continue to offer more services and deeper care than ever before. With Mercy, you’ll have the chance to make an impact and gain experience that’s hard to find elsewhere.
At Mercy Health, it’s all about taking what we have and making it better.
To do that, we need you.
Join us at Mercy Health, and help our teams deliver even greater outcomes.
About the opportunity
- Be a leader of a collaborative and skilled group of midwives who work closely with the wider multi-disciplinary team within the Birthing Suite based at The Mercy Hospital for Women: a tertiary referral centre, with over 5000 births per year, home to one of only four neonatal intensive care units in Melbourne. This allows us to provide care for some of the highest risk pregnancies in the state.
- You will manage day to day operations of our 12 bed birthing suite, guiding the team to provide comprehensive midwifery care for women and support them in their birth choices. Whether this be an unmedicated, hypnobirth in the bath, or a high-risk induction of labour. We keep women and their families at the centre of everything we do.
- You will support and encourage our midwives to work to their full scope of practice.
- Opportunity to join one of our many working groups to promote positive change – including improving our environmental impact.
- Our team fosters a supportive and compassionate environment to help you excel and grow in your midwifery career.
- Be supported by the Midwifery Unit Manager to develop your leadership skills, including opportunity to cover in the Unit Manager role and encouragement to complete further education such as diploma or masters of leadership.
About you:
- Effective leadership skills emphasizing empathy as a guiding principle
- Resourceful and adaptable – you will excel in a team that upholds the Mercy values of compassion, hospitality, respect, innovation, stewardship and teamwork in everything we do
- Proficient in cultivating strong professional relationships to facilitate collaborative care and effectively contribute as a member of our multidisciplinary team
- Approachable and compassionate, you bring a flexible and positive attitude
To thrive in this role, you will have:
- Previous AMUM experience – or previous experience working in charge in a birthing suite
- Level 3 RANZCOG practitioner status
- Competent to perform IV cannulation, balloon catheter insertion for induction of labour, perineal suturing and waterbirth (or working towards these skills)
- Knowledge of managing high risk, complicated pregnancies and birth, but also possess the skills and desire to facilitate physiological birth where possible
You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:
- AHPRA Registration
- A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.
- Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.
