As a key member of the ATSICHS Brisbane team, the ATSICHS The Brighter Futures Program, also known in the sector as the Extended Post Care Service(EPCS), supports young people transitioning out of the child protection system at the age of 18 across the Brisbane region. The program offers intensive, one-on-one case management through an assertive outreach model, focusing on enhancing independent living skills for those with complex backgrounds and limited support. Financial support is a key component, helping young adults manage the costs of independent living and strengthening their financial decision making skills in line with their transition goals.
Duties
- Effectively engage clients through cold-call home-based visits.
- Deliver immediate safety assessment and safety responses, documented and approved by line-Manager, in instances of domestic and family violence, self-harm/mental health, and child abuse.
- Facilitate ATSICHS 'Narrative Assessment Tools' completed in full by client ensuring the voices of clients are imbedded in their assessment. Facilitate conversations and introspection on all assessment domains.
- Lead tough conversations with clients, outlining non-negotiables of statutory bodies (Child Safety, Police, Courts, Youth Justice etc.). Build change readiness of clients through motivational interviewing strategies and positive reinforcement.
- Deliver Empowerment Interventions that Build Client Belief, Motivation, and Self-Sufficiency.
- Maintain accurate and detailed case notes of all client interactions, ensuring case notes are written from the perspective of clients in their voice.
- All client details, consents, assessments and records are current, completed in full and uploaded into case management system.

About the roleReporting to the Nugel Senior Program Manager, the Nugel Team Leader, will play a key leadership role in working with Aboriginal children and families, and Government and sector partners to strive for better outcomes for children and to build the capacity of families so that children can remain at home safely, or can be transitioned home.
Nugel implements Section 18 of the Child Youth and Families Act (CYFA) which transfers responsibility for decision making and direct work with Aboriginal children and their families from Department of Families Fairness and Housing (DFFH) Child Protection to VACCA. Key to transforming the way child protection is delivered, is implementing Nugel's unique practice approach which is based on Cultural Therapeutic Ways; a whole of agency approach that places culture at the centre and integrates this with theories of self-determination and trauma. The Team Leader is central to ensuring that this approach is delivered by staff they manage.
The Team Leader will provide supervision and leadership to a team of Case Managers, ensuring that all practice requirements are met. This includes investigation, assessment and action needed to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children in the program, in addition to developing case plans that meet the long-term needs of the child. Australian Red Cross' International Delegate Register
The Red Cross and Red Crescent (RCRC) Movement is the largest humanitarian network in the world. The RCRC mandate is to protect and support populations experiencing conflicts, disasters and other vulnerabilities.
ARC maintains an active register of highly screened and trained humanitarian workers (referred to as delegates within the Red Cross) who are deployed to international crises when local capacity is overwhelmed or where additional specialist resources are required. Deployments take place through fixed-term contracts, with delegates seconded into the operations of the ICRC or Federation.
In all activities, Australian Red Cross' delegates, staff, volunteers and members are guided by the Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
Australian Red Cross (ARC) has a long history of working closely with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the International Federation of Red Cross Red Crescent (IFRC) (where relevant) to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or internal violence. ARC has been recruiting and placing aid workers to work within the ICRC programs and projects overseas since the mid 70's.
The ICRC works worldwide to provide humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. The ICRC takes action in response to emergencies and directs and coordinates the international activities conducted in these situations while at the same time promotes respect for international humanitarian law. The ICRC is an independent and neutral organization with their mandate stemming from the Geneva Conventions of 1949.
The ICRC detention doctor visit places of detention as part of a team of ICRC delegates. The role primarily examines everything relating to individual and collective detainee health: hygiene, access to water, nutritional status, access to food and medical care and the functioning of the healthcare system within the detention facility. The role also involves examining specific cases and documenting instances of torture and other types of ill-treatment, both physical and psychological.

To be successful, you will have:
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse, with relevant child protection and/or acute care experience.
- Minimum 5 years’ post-registration experience, including 3 years in the relevant specialty.
- Relevant approved postgraduate nursing qualifications.
- Demonstrated clinical leadership, assessment and care coordination skills.

What you'll be doing
As a Community Paediatrics TNP/NP, you will provide advanced clinical practice focused on comprehensive assessment, diagnosis and management of children and young people with developmental and behavioural concerns. You will bring a patient- and family-centred approach to complex presentations and contribute to service improvement across the district.
Conduct comprehensive developmental, behavioural, medical and psychosocial assessments
Apply advanced clinical reasoning to inform diagnosis, treatment and care planning
Prescribe appropriate pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions
Build therapeutic relationships through culturally safe and trauma-informed practice
Contribute to quality improvement, research and service evaluation in paediatrics

Qualification: Evidence of post graduate qualification; Master of Nursing (Nurse Practitioner) or enrolled and or working towards and will be completed in 4 years.

License: Current Drivers Licence valid within Australia and willingness to use for work purposes across district
Selection Criteria
Demonstrated high level of knowledge and advanced clinical paediatric nursing skills including comprehensive assessment, interpretation of diagnostics, implementation of treatment modalities and relevant referral skills applied to a range of challenging, complex, changing environments
Demonstrated competence in use and prescribing of medication for general paediatric conditions, or developmental and behavioural conditions.
Proven high level knowledge and expertise in complex client centred consultancy, practice development activities including mentoring education, policy development and quality improvement.
Demonstrated ability to work with a high degree of autonomy and accountability while also working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary and multi service environment.
Demonstrated advanced communication and interpersonal skills across a variety of clinical settings. This includes experience working effectively with families from differing psychosocial, socioeconomic and /or culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds, including applying a trauma-informed lens to clinical care provision
Demonstrated experience in working with, escalating and managing child protection concerns.
Demonstrated ability to engage, network and establish relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support and facilitate client care needs.
Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional and educational development of others, with a commitment to own professional development and currency of practice

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 to join the First Steps Parenting Centre at Wallsend Health Campus.
First Steps provides specialised support to vulnerable parents, infants and young children during the first three years of life, with a focus on early intervention, child development, parenting and family wellbeing.
This rewarding community-based role is primarily delivered through home visits, with clinic-based appointments and a weekly outreach clinic at St Phillips Young Parents College.
You will build meaningful relationships with families, providing tailored education, practical strategies and support to strengthen parental confidence, promote healthy development and improve outcomes for children.
Your role
You will provide comprehensive assessment, education and support across a range of complex child and family needs, including:
- Complex sleep and settling.

- Domestic and family violence.
- Parenting and behavioural concerns, including the use of approaches such as Marte Meo.

You will facilitate groups including Circle of Security, PND and Self-Compassion, helping parents build confidence and strengthen relationships with their children.
