Exciting Casual Opportunity: Community Support Worker
On the remote Eyre Peninsula, in the coastal community of Elliston, the work of a Community Support Worker carries real weight. At Eyre and Far North Local Health Network (EFNLHN), you'll be the person who helps someone stay in the home they love - offering practical support, genuine connection, and the kind of care that makes independence possible.
What You'll Be Doing
Working within EFNLHN's Consumer Directed Care model, you'll deliver support shaped by each client's own goals and preferences - because here, the person receiving care guides the plan. Shifts, duties, and frequency reflect the needs of the people you support, giving your work real purpose and variety.
- Assist clients with personal hygiene, grooming, and mobility in a respectful and dignified manner
- Perform household tasks including cleaning, laundry, meal preparation, and minor gardening
- Provide reliable transport to appointments and community outings
- Support social engagement and activities that contribute to client wellbeing
- At the WHD4 level, deliver personal care to clients with more complex support needs
What You'll Bring
- A warm, empathetic approach and the confidence to work independently in the community
- Sound communication skills and genuine respect for people from diverse cultures and backgrounds
- Experience supporting aged, frail, or disabled individuals
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a small, community-based team
- Familiarity with SA Health's approach to community care, or willingness to learn EFNLHN's Consumer Directed Care model
- For appointment at WHD4 level: Certificate III or higher in Individual Support (Aged Care, Disability, or Home and Community)
Life and Work in Elliston with EFNLHN
EFNLHN serves one of Australia's most geographically vast and distinctive regions, and Elliston sits at the edge of it - a tight-knit coastal community where your contribution is visible every single day. As a SA Health employee, you'll access salary packaging benefits that meaningfully increase your take-home pay, alongside the professional support of a broader health network that genuinely invests in its people. This is a casual role offering real flexibility, and the Consumer Directed Care model means your day-to-day work reflects the actual preferences of the people you serve - not a fixed, one-size-fits-all schedule. This position is available through to 30 June 2027.
Ready to Apply
Submit your application through the SA Health careers portal with a current resume and a cover letter outlining your experience in community or personal care. For a conversation about the role, contact the EFNLHN Elliston Community and Allied Health team directly. We strongly encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and those with lived experience in community care.
