Sydney (hybrid, mostly from home) $220K-$240K + super + up to 40% bonus
This is an executive seat for a nurse or allied health leader who wants to shape a growing home care business from day one.
About the organisationOur client is a well-established, privately owned retirement living group. It runs boutique villages along Australia's east coast and an approved Support at Home business that serves clients both inside its villages and in the wider community. The home care business is growing about 30% a year and now operates nationally through remote care partners.
The roleThis newly created General Manager role sits on a small executive team alongside the CEO and CFO, with direct exposure to the Board. You'll own the home care business end to end: strategy, P&L, clinical governance and operations. You'll also be accountable for care quality and clinical practice across the group's retirement villages.
Key responsibilities include:
- Setting the home care strategy and operating plan, and writing Board papers and business cases for growth, including future Care Hubs and possibly residential aged care.
- Leading clinical governance, including assessment, care planning, clinical risk, incidents, safeguarding and complaints. You'll keep the business audit-ready against the Aged Care Act, the Code of Conduct and the strengthened Quality Standards, and lead the upcoming registration renewal.
- Owning the P&L, reviewing pricing with the CFO, and managing agency use, cost to serve and margin.
- Overseeing Support at Home delivery, including participant budgets, service agreements, contributions, claims and statements, and rolling out program changes.
- Running the client journey from enquiry to exit, including rostering, service coordination, systems and contracted providers.
- Working with village leadership to set and enforce clinical policy, referral pathways and escalation processes.
- Leading and developing a small team through two direct reports: a Clinical Care Manager and a Care Partner Team Lead.
This is a mid-sized business, so the role is hands-on. You'll prepare your own Board papers and step in to support the care team when needed.
About youMandatory:
- A tertiary qualification in nursing or allied health, with current AHPRA registration where applicable.
- Hands on clinical experience caring for older people.
- Residential aged care experience, having worked in or led residential aged care.
- Detailed working knowledge of the Aged Care Act and Support at Home, including budgets, pricing, contributions, claims and provider obligations.
- Senior leadership of managers and multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience owning a budget or P&L and building business cases.
- Experience presenting or reporting to a Board.
- Direct dealings with the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing, the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission, or audits.
- The ability to influence and lead peers who don't report to you.
- A current driver licence, willingness to travel interstate, and a clear police check.
Highly regarded:
- Experience with AlayaCare Cloud (other care management systems are welcome).
- Experience delivering home care within a retirement village setting.
- Postgraduate study, such as an MBA or a Master of Health Management.
Two kinds of candidate will thrive here. One is a strong home care leader ready for their first executive role. The other is a seasoned GM or COO who enjoys being close to the detail and wants to help build something.
What's on offer- A $240K base plus super, plus a performance bonus of up to 40% of base.
- An executive seat with real influence and direct Board access.
- A brand-new role you'll shape rather than inherit.
- Genuine flexibility: one office day a week in Northern Sydney, with no facility base.
- Interstate travel to villages: a few trips in your first month, then roughly every one to two months.
- Relocation support may be considered for the right interstate candidate.
